    Has anyone done this conversion? Or have pictures of Recaro, Corbeau, Sparcos installed in a 05+ Tacoma? Or if anyone has details, please post here.

    And no, these "Recaros" don't count;

    I am tired of the sucktastic non-TRD bucket seats and honestly, and I'm not much a fan of the TRD sport seats either. But it's all a matter of opinion. Otherwise I'd probably just try and swap for the TRD seats.

    I've searched TW, TTORA and CustomTacos and there must be less than 5 people with this retrofit and none have documented much.

    I did come to the conclusion from my earlier searches that the brackets can be fabbed from a company in California by the name of "Wedge Engineering" (http://www.wedgeengineering.net/)

    The seat belts are another item in question. It's known that most aftermarket seat belts wont fit into the female connection on Toyotas. So most likely, one would have to purchase a secondary set of driver/ passenger side seat belts and retrofit those perhaps.

    Also for those with children... Recaro also makes some killer car-seats! You can even get them in custom colors like Okoles. Here's a quick pic (soooo comfy looking);

    dont forget about all the airbag wiring as well. All of your airbags would likely be disabled in the event of a crash.

    Very good point. The absence of weight to trigger the sensors would likely make the airbags useless.

    They ARE comfy when you are out running the trails or racing for real...but day to day driving they are a bit much for my tastes.

    Most need to be equipped with a 3-5 point harness to truely secure you in the seat. If you aren't properly restrained you can do more damage than good....even with a great seat.

    Agreed. When I was in college a 4 years back I was heavily active in SCCA. My other current vehicle is equipped with Recaro Pole 1s. But comfy or tight, they are much more liberating than the stock seats.

    You can get ass sensors. Its common.

    Not necessarily true. If you run the stock seat belt, you'd be fine. The problem is when someone runs a 3/4/5/6pt harness but doesnt install a roll bar. This causes you to stay upright, allowing the roof to collapse on to you. If you roll the vehicle, your body has no place to go b/c you're strapped in. W/ the stock seatbelt, you're still able to lean or whatever, out of the way.

    And yes, wedge engineering makes plenty of mounts. They made me a set for an old 300zx Twin Turbo that I had sparcos in.

    I got to stay off this thing... Just ordered 2 of these from Jeep Solutions in Long Beach... should be here by Monday... black swede with 1 lumbar:

    [IMG]

    I tried to find a 4wheelparts store that had them in stock to see how each model fit my fat ass and they weren't very helpful. First tried local store 4wp and no luck then called corporate and they said they wouldn't know - because that guy wouldn't get the commissioned sale on the spot (I imagine) and then I was transfered to the Compton retail and they didn't have any recliners in stock. Thats when I inquired on thee corbeau website and got a call back in minutes. They directed me to Jeep Solutions since they had 4 recliners on display. Done deal. Worked with Noel there - he was very helpful and a cool dude.
