Add to that; Some people think there is no issue with ABS on snow because they drove around Juno one day in the snow and didn't experience an issue.

Snow type and moisture content are a huge factor that nobody that drives in dry snow all the time ever considers either

alright buddy I was done, but you gotta keep teasing...
Have you watched the weather this year, I live in NH in an area that receives roughly 75-100" annually, granted that doesn't even come close to others here. I just referred to "JUNO" in that post because the Media blew it up so much that people on a worldwide forum might recognize the name buddy! So my snow driving has been more than just one day!

I'm having a tough time trying to understand your situation, as Monday we had 4 inches of snow, then rain, then freezing rain, then overnight temps in the teens (F), so in many unplowed alleys, and streets, especially in the shade, you can find inches of ice without much effort. Yes at 60Mph/100Kph if I hit some ice at around 30 degrees F/ -1 degree C, I would get a little kick out, but nothing what you describe. The TCS doesn't even light up. I have to hit the brakes pretty hard in order to get the ABS/TCS to wake up.
I think your ABS needs to be re-calibrated, or your tires need to be thrown away, or both.
Also 2~3 MPH? That doesn't even register on my speedometer. Most people walk at 4~5 MPH. What is the camber on your alignment? I recommend 0~-1 degree if you have a 3" lift. What tire pressure are you at? Rugged Trails in the winter should be around 26~30psi max.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I have driven in the snow all my life.

Yes there are definitely situations when the ABS performs worse than NON ABS, and there are definitely situations in which ABS out-performs NON ABS

There are DEFINITELY many factors and situations that vary rapidly change.. Even area to area with different road and pavement types as well as the winter treatments used.

User experience may vary.. That's why we have different feedback, and if someone does not feel safe then they deserve the support whether its their truck or their driving. No fail safe answer or blanket statement that covers everyone without fail.

My speedometer needle was above 0 and about 2/3's of the way to the first small mark which is 5mph on my truck. I'm not sure why your truck wouldn't register 2 - 3 mph? Google shows avg human walking speed as 3mph. I was deffinitly going about walking speed when I applied the brakes.

I don't have a lift and have never had it aligned yet, still running factory rugged trails. It rides straight down the road and no noise or tire vibrations.

I'm running my tires at 32mph right now and filled them up to that pressure when they were completely cold and it was single digits out. So they're probably going even higher when the tires warm up, or when the air temp is in the 30s. I'll check them tonight and pressure down a little if they are over 30.

I HAVE experienced the ABS issue personally on my truck. I don't deny it exists at all. But have to say from what I've witnessed on other trucks, and read about in this forum, Rugged Trails have terrible traction on ice. Better tires will not solve the ABS issue, but I truly believe they might improve the situation. IMHO and with absolutely no offense intended.

Agree. I've been a little arrogant on this topic because it hasn't happened to me, but upon looking up problems with it, it is indeed an issue with many vehicles, not just Tacoma's. Unfortunately ABS systems haven't been the savior they were intended to be in every situation.

No offense taken, I'm actually feeling the exact same way. I should be fine for the rest of this winter just being extra careful, but right before next winter hits I'm definitely switching to a better winter tire for sure.

I don't see the need for ABS at very low speeds. I think it would be better if they could make it only kick in around 15mph+. Preventing high speed rollovers where people slam on their brakes is what it works good for.
