Heh, after a while, cold is just cold. You don't even bother looking at the temperature until March or so.

After reading this thread, I'm starting to wonder if my truck has a problem. My clutch pedal won't come back up by itself for a for a minute or so when I first start the truck and its cold, anywhere from 15-30 degrees. Usually start it and have to walk away for a while.

We've had down to -30 here and the Taco pretty much started right up. No block or oil heater. Sticky clutch, creaky windshield, and cold seats are about all I can complain about!

    Yep.
it's a little rough cranking over and the clutch takes a couple shifts to get loose but other than that everything is good.

only thing that pisses me off is that the display stops at -30° C

and when it's below that (was -46 a few weeks ago) it's nice to see it hehehe

p.s. no problem cranking at -46°C and also heated seats and remote starter is a plus in these temps!

The only problem that I had was the windshield washer fluid froze but that was my fault. I shipped the truck from Texas to Germany and forgot that the fluid that you buy in Texas isn't made for really cold weather. Also kicking myself repeatedly in the butt for not getting a 4x4 or buying tires that work in the snow.

Reading these post makes me sad. I had the air conditioning running all day today. Gotta love Orange County CA!

19 this morning. Truck seemed to have a tougher time starting up with the stock battery (truck is only 5 months old).

But, my Explorer had the same problems last year in Detroit.

-34 Sat, -22 sun, -15 this morning. A wee bit slower to crank but not bad, still started right up, did take a while to warm up though and that is with it parked outside, and not plugged in.

    Haven't had any major issues.

Mileage has taken a dive, but I'm actually not fully attributing that to the cold, because it was strongly on its way down long before it got cold.

I've noticed the slightly sticky clutch when I first get in also, but that goes away fast, and still works from the start.

I have creaking also, but not a big deal.

I'm still on the original battery and it fires up like a champ.

The artic air gave Grand Forks a record low of -38F 2 days ago. The block and oil pan heater work without complaint and the truck is warm before the end of the block. The clutch and shifter are a little stiff until the tranny gets some heat, 1st and 2nd are particularly stubborn. No issues with the doors.

The spring clamp holding the drain plug on the coolant reservoir began weeping, replaced spring clamp with screw clamp. The tires need more attention, the temperature changes rapidly enough to effect pressures. 2 days ago it was -38F today it's 0F, a heat wave, 32F will feel like spring.:D

I have a oil pan heater too but tell me about your block heater. I've seen the write ups on 6 bangers, there is a female that you just slide the block heater into but how did you do the block heater on the 2.7 ? Do you have any pics ? Did you do it yourself or have it installed ? Any links ? Thanks

only problem is the water that fills the weathertech floor mats from the snow on my boots. just put a shamee cloth on floor and it seems to be working preatty good holding the water, just ring it out every once in a while. truck has been starting no problem with the starter, in and out of 4wd all week. The duratracs i put on over the summer are outstanding in the snow.
