I have a shortbed, only needed it to do yard work and so forth... PLUS... a long bed wouldn't fit into the garage... You don't think i was going to let her sit out in the rain did ya? Oh NO!

LOL - I know what you mean. That is one of the reasons that I got an AccessCab. I wanted/needed the long bed, but I wanted it to fit in my garage. Plus I wanted the 2.7L+5speed.

I have a shortbed and I really haven't needed the extra length for anything. If I haul my ATV or Motorcycle, or anything large I have a trailer for that. Plus the shortbed fits into my garage and is that much easier to park like some of the previous postings stated.

So far, all the points I've read from shortbed owners are that a longbed won't fit in the garage and/or longbeds are harder to park.

After 5000 miles, I myself am happy with the longbed. First of all, I am lucky enough that my truck fits in the garage, considering I did not really try it out (I did try a RAM 1500 quad cab though). Secondly, parking has always been a problem for me. Not that I cannot park... but I always end up at a spot where nobody can put a ding in my truck. So whatever box I chose to buy, I'd probably end up parking in the same spots anyway.

Hauling a trailing is something I try to avoid. There's just more piece of mind when I don't have to worry about that, which we had to deal with hauling 2 sportbikes with my friend's 05 Ford 150 DC, which has a 5'5" bed.

In a different topic, somebody also mentioned that sleeping in a standard bed would be more comfortable. I would have to agree.

Haha... after driving a car for all of my driving years, I'm 29 now, and only having my truck for almost a month. Its a shortbed, I'm still having issues parking it... just getting used to it being bigger than my acura that I had for 7 years.. LOL But I to find myself parking in places where people will not bump it or worry about buggies banging my truck and NOT in a good way!

Short bed for me, as well, mainly for parking reasons. And I don't have any real use for a long bed anyway.

reading other threads i find myself in the same situation parking further and more spacious than other vehicles (to prevent scratches on my truck) which really i don't mind, my long bed fits in my garage, guess you have to look up the size of your garage in order to do that, which i was lucky when i purchase my new home, i could even fit in the mercedes with my diva without compromising space between them. as a parent with two athletic children with an appetite to match, shopping, gardening, sports practice etc. not to mention my honey is a real estate broker he has alot of tools to spruce up the houses he sells, that long bed does come in handy. to sum it up, it depends on the owner and what is his use for the long bed work , play etc. so if you're planning to purchase either the standard, long or short bed consider these options, maybe you just want to look cool in it who knows.

I got the short bed ( no disrespect ) it looks better. I wanted a truck not a limo. jk. I have a 6x10 trailer to haul my quads so I use that to haul big stuff. On a daily basis I use the bed to carry small hand tools and tool box. Although I have seen some bad ass long beds jacked up with 10inch lifts.

This is my second Toyota truck, and I use it now and again. I needed a double cab this time around and was pleased that Toyota offered a normal size bed for it. I wasn't 100% set on it though, so I had the little lady take the wheel during a test drive. She drove through an active and crowded parking lot and even parked it fine on the first attempt. From that point, it was long bed for me.
