shop manual recommendation

What shop manual(s) are recommended for an '06 Tacoma? While the truck is @ 35K miles is still under warranty I do all my own maintenance and I want to understand how everything works.

no haynes or chilton books for our trucks yet.......and factory service manuals are hella expensive. here is a link for the factory service manual........download it and save your self about $300 or $400!!! hope this helps!

 

FSM is the only way to go, spend the extra money, you'll be glad you did.

As to the price, I haven't checked for the 2008, but I don't believe it's as high as $300-400, although I could be mistaken. I just know that the FSM for my 1994 Toyota Pickup was under $150 for both engine and body manuals. Of course, that was a 1994...

 

trust me....the fsm for the 05 and up tacomas, which is 3 or 4 manuals, is around $400. and toyota isnt letting haynes or chilton make a service/repair guide for them either. if you'll look at the link......it is the actual fsm for the 05 and up tacomas. its what they use at the dealership.

 

That downloadable manual works great. I pack it around on my thumbdrive in my pocket so I always have my manual near by. Works on any windows computer with Internet Explorer. It's the full factory version manual with wiring diagrams too. The price doesn't get any better either, it's free.

 

The factory manual is just what I need so that I can go into a project with facts rather than 40-plus years of wrenching intuition and a 'hope it doesn't screw something up" thought as the R&R proceeds
