So today I helped a buddy move. I leave his house and I'm at a stop light and ease forward just a little and brake. I hear a light thud and feel a slight bump, as if something was left in the bed. I compare it to a loose basketball in the bed of the truck and when you stop it rolls forward and hits the front of the bed.

Anyway I get home and check and nothing is loose in the bed, in the back seat, or behind/under the seats. I checked the spare tire to see if it was loose and it wasn't. I'm really dumbfounded, b/c I can replicate it over and over. Even my wife heard it and felt the thud.

Anyone experience this before or know what this could be?

This happens with my truck every once in a while, I always just assumed that it was leaf springs binding a little then"clunking" free as the weight transitions back to the rear wheels after a stop.

could be all those things and more. Most likely it's the trans shifting back to 1st. But it could be the "slip yoke" on the trans side(auto) or the slip on the driveshaft (4x4), axle wrap, rear brakes sticking.
I had it, got new rear leafs, still had it. Had my trans serviced, it went away?!
Everyone now and then I get it, I think it's because of that funky driveshaft and the carrier binding up.??:notsure:

how many miles do you have?

I have 31,000 miles. I replicated it numerous times in my driveway, starting from a dead stop and inching forward a little bit (only inches) and completely stopping. There is a small delay from when I make a complete stop to when it happens.
