As I mentioned before I live in Oregon where studded tires cause ruts and rain makes for nice long puddles on many roads.

Even with relatively light rain (by Oregon standards!) when I go through puddles there is a lot of noise from the front wheel well. Much louder than my 1998. I have a feeling that it is just because Toyota has gone to a lot of plastic that is lighter than the 98.

Anyone else notice this? Any mod that works well? I thought maybe some aftermarket undercoat on the wheel well and mud flap might help. Thoughts?

Probably the mud flap. They are pretty flimsy and the water beats them.
