    '07 Taco for 14K.

"The vehicle does have a salvage title but not because it has been wrecked but because it was vandalized to the point where the insurance company decided to salvage it the truck runs great and has nothing wrong with its interior or exterior"

    So...what was vandalized?

I probably will later. He says it's a TRD, and the mirrors/door handles are color matched like a sport, but it doesn't have the scooped hood and it has a chrome grill surround. Either he swapped all that out, or it was wrecked and that's what he put on it after. I'll call later this afternoon and post what I find out.

I believe the scooped hood then was only on the TRD Sport.....and not on the ORs....Someone please correct me if I am wrong.......

That's what I'm figurin too...but he says the salvaged title has "nothing to do with the interior or exterior."

Yea it was on the Sport, but the color matched mirrors/door handles/grille surround were only on the Sport...on the OR the handles/mirros are black and grille surround is chrome.

Sounds like he purchased it on the salvage title after it got trashed and then fixed it up.

I wasn't plannin on buyin it. I have a buddy that got stuck this past weekend and he decided he wanted to buy a Taco since I pulled him out and made it up 3 hills that he had to back/slide back down and he found it and asked me if he should buy it. I told him he should find one without a salvaged title. I was just curious about what could have been vandalized if it has nothin to do with the interior or exterior. It's a good lookin truck though.

With a name like Sergio it makes me wonder if it a Russian mob deal. They have been known to steal vehicles, strip them and leave the frame somewhere to be picked up. Go by the frame with the salvaged title and turn around and sell it.

That is what I would worry about.

Also note that every panel should have a factory sticker on it. When the parts get replaced say a bumper or door or whatever, those parts will not have the factory tag on it. Kinda looks like a upc code. That is an easy way to tell what has been replaced on the car. They should all have the same VIN number as well.

i had a similar issue when i was purchasing a car some time ago. I ran a carfax and it was clean, but when I submitted the paperwork for a loan with the bank, they ran a check on the car and found out that the digital odometer was clocked back. i can't remember if it was called a restored title or something else. I then confronted the seller and then he gave me a story about how somebody broke in and ripped out the dash, and deployed the air bag. He said that's all he replaced. Sorry but that sounds kind of bogus to me, who breaks in your car to rip out the dash? Especially when you have a factory stereo. I bet that's what it is. I'd be suspicious if the miles are low.

It may or may not be a TRD at all. Just keep in mind, anyone can buy those stickers and put them on the side. There was an old adage about straight out of the horses mouth. You can make the outside look fancy with paint and a bath, but just look at the teeth.

I would say call about it and go check it out in person.

Looks like the truck was rebuilt to me, that's why you have all the mismatched parts. Maybe they did a great job thats why he's trying to pass it off as clean.
