Considering purchasing X-PEL protective film for headlights and fog lights on my truck. My previous truck ( '01 dodge dakota quad cab 4x4 ) suffered dings and one fog lamp lens cover cracked from pebbles/rocks while out in the desert.
Does the film work as advertised? I'm sure it's cheaper than replacing lens covers. Also, can it be applied to other areas of the truck? The 'orange peel' applied by the manufacturer is a good idea. Is X-PEL similar?
Any insight would help me decide.

Regarding mods: I also relocated the 7 pin connector to the bumper. Thats usually one of the first things damaged when out in the desert. Instructions were clear and concise. THANKS!
