They are definitely saying that they took some corrective action on 2009-2010 model year. Sounds like an effort not to do the TSB.

Looking for some advice on the Leaf Spring issue in this thread:

Yesterday I was on the phone w/ the Toyota Experience ctr. asking about the front shaft issue and any other possible issues. they said it was not included in the shafting problem & that there wasn't anything else on my 2010 that was made in 10/2009. Then today I got a heads up about this thread. Mind you, I 1st had a 1999, which they just bought back. I have had a broken leg since 1/16 & have only put on 120 mi. on my 2010 SR5, 4 door, 4X4. Most of the time it has just sat in the driveway.
I called the ctr. back today asking about this TSB. First they said it is not a recall but rather just a set of instructions for dealer to use "if" there were a problem with the leafs. Ultimately I was told that "if" I wanted new springs, the dealer would install them. Was also told that new springs are not really needed unless you are frequently putting a lot of weight in the bed. Also that new springs would give stiffer ride. I will not normally put a lot of weight in the bed though I am likely putting on a cap this time around.

To anyone who has made the change over to the new leafs my questions are:
1- How much stiffer (if any) is the ride likely to get with new leafs?
2- How much higher (if any) is it likely to sit?

    any input is appreciated

    Joe

    Sheesh.

How did you get down to that part and not see the following?

    "• January 4, 2010 Rev2:
    • Applicability has been updated to include 2009 – 2010 model year Tacoma vehicles."

    and

    "Warranty Information
    NOTE
Warranty Information has been separated into 3 sections:
    • 2005 – 2008 model year Non-TRD Option Package Truck
    • 2005 – 2008 model year TRD Option Package Truck
2009 – 2010 model year Non-TRD and TRD Option Package Truck"

    and

"2009 – 2010 model year Tacoma with Non-TRD & TRD Option Package Truck
OP CODE DESCRIPTION TIME OFP T1 T2
SU7003 Rear Spring Assembly (Both Sides) 1.4
    Combo C Alignment 1.2
    Combo D Front Toe-in 0.1
    Combo E Front Camber 0.2
    Combo F Front Caster 0.2"

The 2009 - 2010 models get the rear spring package. They don't get the beefier shocks because they are already present on 2009 - 2010 trucks.

Now, I have an AAL and been wondering if I should just get this done so that its all factory. An AAL is just the TSB, correct? Should I get it done just for the sake of argument?

TSB's are only for vehicles with less than 36k miles right?

Just called my dealer - they seem familiar with the TSB, but after I talked to them I got the distinct feeling that they are going to refuse to replace the springs... The truck is one of the "covered" vehicles, according to year, mileage, and VIN.
Service is scheduled for Thursday AM so I need some suggestions on how to handle it.

    Here's are the issues:
    1. I'm hauling a lot of loads lately and my '08 DC Sport easily gets overloaded. The springs are "soft".
    2. The loads are no where close to 900#, by my calcs.
    3. There is only 13k miles on this truck (yes it is an '08, and I bought it new. The mountains are close and my commute was short!)
    4. I'm a chick, so regardless of what my father taught me about vehicles, I'm going to get treated like a chick. (Can't call Dad, he passed a few years ago)

So, any suggestions about how to describe the problem, and to "encourage" them to do it? :crapstorm:

    thanks!

Under the T-SB-0305-08 recall my 2006 Tacoma (KU72N) is listed but when I called Toyota of San Diego and gave them my serial number they said "sorry your vehicle has no recalls listed" This seems odd because they also knew about the floor mat recall issue. This sucks because my truck has 33kmiles on it and warranty expires at 36K! Calling corporate I get a recording "due to large call volume, we can not help you, try calling again later!" Oh well looks like toyota is learning GMs dirty corporate tricks!
    I will persist!

They're giving you the runaround. A TSB is NOT a recall, and notice how they used the word recall. Mention TSB next time you call and see what they say.

normbal, that is normal. Let them inspect the truck. Some people have brought 500lbs of concrete in the bed for them to test with.
