I have 58" load bars on my thule rack. Space beween the towers measures around 50" w/ 4" on the outside of each tower.
I just went outside a took a measurement. Yakima must be around the same.

I've got 48" bars on the Yakima on my ARE top. There's only a couple inches on the outside of the towers I'd go with at least the 52".

Same with mine...but I would keep the 48" bars. No need for them to stick out much.

This is the setup I ran before I went to a Leer cap and Thule rack......58" Yakima bars on the cab. Width seemed to work just right.

Looking to get a rack on my snugtop cap. Did you install the roof mount rack on your ARE. Did it come with instructions on where to place the rack/ how far a part the rails should be?
