TRD Cold Air Intake Dilemma

Okay, So I contacted Toyota to ask them when the 2010 4.0L TRD CAI will become available for my truck.. Well apparently their not going to be available until mid March..

Obviously I'm not very happy about this..

Anyways.. I started thinking about it and figured I might have a quick and easy solution, but am unsure as to if it'll work on my truck. So getting right to the main point..

Will a 2009 4.0L TRD Cold Air Intake fit my 2010 4.0L Engine? If im not mistaken, or misinformed.. the engine has been left relatively unchanged from 2009 to 2010. From my knowledge I wouldn't anticipate their being any problems installing last years model onto my truck. However, I'm cautious about doing it for a few reasons..

1) Why would Toyota with drawl a part from production to replace it under a new part code unless it has been altered in some way, shape or form. Which could only be logically explained because Toyota altered something that would require the new part to fit the old engine?

2) If the 2009 will fit my 2010 Tacoma, will it cause any codes to turn on? I'm primarily worried about the O2 sensors and check engine light coming on...

3) And will it affect my warranty in any way.. I'm guessing it wont.. but you never know with these guys..

Has anybody installed a 09 CAI on their 010??

Sorry about the whole speal guys, but I'm pretty adamant about what I'm gona be doing to this truck and am making sure its all done right the first time.

Anyways any input would be awesome, I will also be making a call to Toyota on Monday to reassure myself if I decide to go with the previous model intake.

There weren't any engine changes from the 09's to 10's so it should work.

 

Don't get not worth it....Unless your'e gonna be hitten 6000rpms regularly

 

It's not all about sound. Mine performs very well.

 

i had the same trd intake on a 09 and 2010 it works the exact same.

Don't you have to be at full throttle to see any power gains. Unless you race it at the TRACK (for the kidos) the only practical reason it can be used for is passing up slow moveing cars on the high way ($350 to do this). Cause the hp gains aren't through out the power band. just my 2 cents

 

Well, after very little debate I decided to go ahead and pick up an 09 TRD Cold Air Intake from the dealer.

Luckily, I was able to obtain an employee discount from a friend of mine and only shelled out $300.00 Flat for it.

Took me about an hour to get it home and install it. Installation was pretty straight forward and didn't require much work. Although i spent more time looking for a 4mm socket than I did putting the thing on my truck..... But all in all I'm pretty satisfied with the ending results.

I can already feel the gains in power and the other benefits that accompany it as well. And am highly anticipating the addition of a URD Sprint Booster Calibration Device + the URD MAF Calibrator. Both of which, (i hope) will make my little truck that much better.
