    "Percussive maintenance." Haha. Love it, Anphonic. I'm guessing the toe kick probably accomplished the same thing as my quick shock to the motor - just broke it loose from a bad spot where the brushes meet the armature contact points. How 'bout "impact refurbishment." :)

    My blower fan would only work on hi, the resistor on my 06 is at the toes of your left foot when in the front passenger seat. I removed the plug added some dielectric grease and its working fine.
    Thanks again for the great info,
    I hope Toyota is reading these threads as they had better clean this shit up!

    I had the same problem! I love how much I learn from these Forums! Wiggled the harness & voila! All fan speeds are once again operational!!!

    This is a common problem. At first the connector on my resistor pack failed. Then the motor stopped working unless I wacked it. It's all working now. Here's my write-up with pix and fix info:

    I just completed mine. Used parts 87138-04052 and
    $32 82141-04M40
    82141-04M40, both Toyota Genuine Parts along with some 16-14 Gauge Butt Connectors I got from O'Reilly's.

    Took maybe 15 minutes and was not that complicated at all.

    AC now works on all speeds. :D Yeeeehaaa!!!

    After having fixed this several times on Toyotas, I got tired of paying for the fix and tried a coronary bypass on the troubled wire.

    1. This is where the trouble starts:

    2. I made a mark on the resistor to note where the troubled connection hits the resistor:

    3. On the same side as the mark, there is enough open space on the black base to drill a hole big enough for a 12 gauge wire:

    2. I soldered a wire to the base of the resistor and pushed it through the hole:

    5. Moving the soldering rig to the passenger footwell, I scraped off some insulation and soldered to the troubled wire on the other side of the connector, creating a bypass around the clogged artery:

    6. Added some black tape and reinstalled the resistor:

    All told it took about 45 minutes to do, and since there was some 12 GA wire laying around here it cost zero dollars. I did this 6 months ago and it's still holding so I am calling the "coronary bypass" a success

    I guess thats one way to fix it. You might try upgrading to the new resistor.

    I had to replace my resistor using this tutorial and it fixed my fan issue. Sadly the "NEW" resistor Toyota is selling is still a big monsterous piece of crap and burned out within 6 months.

    I let the dealer fix it since it was still under warranty and the new resistor lasted 3.5 months.

    It's it will probably bend again, but it was obvious this was caused by the lack of contact between harness and pin (arching, heat). Cleaned up, bent contact back up, coated with dialectic grease. Working fine.

    Probably a stupid question, but where is the best place to order these parts???

    EDIT: nm......I just pasted the part numbers into Amazon and found them. The only thing I couldn't find there were the "connectors". Is that just the crimps, and if so, can I just use regular old wire crimps? What gauge of crimps are needed with the new part #'s?

Replaced front chrome grill with customized color matched (Desert Sand Mica) grill with added TOYOTA lettering (also in matched color), installed and secured tailgate anti-theft devices. Also installed a new external TPMS monitor for all 4 tires.
