i have an 06 prerunner sr5 and everytime i try to spin the tires it feels like my truck is falling apart. Is this traction control, vsc, lsd, or what? and how do i turn it off? ive read the mod about turning trac, abs, and vsc off but i cant locate a blue wire with a yellow stripe :(

Why are you burning out the tires??

But, it may be the traction control (my 09 has TRAC and beeps and shudders when a tire spins in snow). I've never had a reason to spin my tires on pavement so I couldn't say for that.

It is a factory "feature" to help increase fuel economy, tire life, and driver IQ by suggesting that this might be a bad idea.

Just Razzing. Your problem is probably axle wrap caused by the rear axle rotating under load when the wheels have too much traction to spin easily. Besides the jumpy feeling this also rotates the pinion until the u-joints are out of tolerances and they get angry too. Lift blocks in the rear end increase the leverage and therefore make axle wrap worse as does Traction Control and LSDs/lockers. If you have traction control you can try turning it off by holding down the button on the dash. If this is the problem you can install a ladder/traction bar that helps by prevent the rear axle to rotate.

You don't have traction, if you have a sport then u have LSD if it's an offroad then u have a locker if it's non trd then u have open rear differential

Its non trd. If its an open differential shouldn't there only be 1 tire mark in the dirt? Or is the traction control or whatever switching the power back and forth between tires?

open diff means one tire spinning. the only tacos that have traction control are the 09s and up

its called wheel hop or axle wrap is another common name for it. if your truck is doing this beware. you can/will break the ring and pinion gears in the rear end. ask me how i know....

So if I want to do burn outs, I have to add a ladder/traction bar? That's gay.

    See build thread in signature
Why would the thread get locked... it's perfectly legal and ok to do a burnout on private property, the drags, ect.

Anyway, you'll eat tires, it's hard on the drive train, yatta yatta... I do it all the time and it's fine. I don't do brake stand sthough (hold the brake and gas). If you're just punching it hard on acceleration, she'll be fine. If you're holding hte break, there's a lot of tension building up in the drivetrain. The two piece drive shaft, the loose suspension, ect... it's not really designed for such abuse.

All I do is floor it and not on dry pavement. I don't hold the brake or rev up and pop the clutch, but I usually feel some wheel hop or axle wrap. I guess i should just be less aggressive with my burnouts.:pout:
