Well, I got a call from the dealership last Thursday and was told that the area Toy Rep said absolutely "NO" he won't allow the TSB on my 08. He didn't even look at my truck!! The service manager who called me said that he knew I wouldn't be happy so he placed another dozen calls to the regional manager and also to corporate. After reaching someone in corporate, he said that they were going to update the TSB to include the 08's (he didn't say when) and that he would go ahead and order the parts and do the TSB on my truck. He stressed how stiff the suspension would become and that if we go ahead and do the TSB, there was no going back. That was OK with me. I'll let you know how it all goes.

007, are you having any success?

Don't take no for an answer. Keep complaining to Toyota, and they will try to make you a happy customer. The dealer is another issue all together. Toyota wants you to be a satisfied customer, but sometimes it is the squeeky wheel that gets the grease. Just call Toyota's customer service line, not the dealer's.

I was lucky. I took my truck in to my dealer for an oil change, and to ask if they could order the parts parts and schedule the service, while waiting the Service Writer came to the waiting area to let me know they had the parts in stock, and could do the TSB that day. I got the same "stiff ride" warning, but I have no problem with the post TSB ride at all.

LOL, my guy said that I wouldn't feel a difference at all. After daily driving for a month, I may have noticed a slight change. I'd be upset if things DIDN'T feel this stiff - I rode in a gen 1 today and my ride is still smoother.

Don't worry about the stiff ride. There isn't a huge difference. It just feels better and can handle the weight. If we wanted cars we wouldn't have bought out tacomas yes?

I live in Salinas CA and the local dealer today claims that only the rear shocks require replacing. I called the 800 number and received little help but opened a claim to have the complete TSB done. Any ideas? Salinas Toyota really sucks....

Help!

That's 640 lb plus my 50 lb bed cover and I'm 1" away from the bump stops when parked. Also, thanks to M2M I have (2) work orders from other 08's that have had the TSB done, just so I can prove a precedent. Let me know if you want me to forward them to you so you also have another bullet in your gun so to speak.
Several months ago I did a not so smart question asking for the serial number of any '08 truck where a TSB has been done, yes... no one give it away (for security purposes) but that was what my local dealer service department asked for to do the TSB on my truck, If you still are able to send those two workorders (hardcopy?) can you send it over to me?

if not, I think I will call Toyota Corporation and provide the numbers shown after you reply and see if they can authorize the TSB on my truck.

Thanks in advance for your help
Regards.

Hey lucky Lucky, I bought mine at that dealer, who do you talk to in order to get yours done (TSB)?

Hopefully I can get a hold of the same "experienced" person and get mine soon.

Thanks for your help.

Just noticed this sticky... Jack Sherman Toyota, simply said having serious bottom out issues with anything over 500lbs for years. Kept tsb in pocket, had them look it up and find it. Didnt have to prove anything, parts ordered, two weeks later was completed. Handles 1000 lbs w/o issue.

HELP ME PLEASE!!

Ok, so calling toyota customer service has been very little help! The dealership, Salinas Toyota will only replace rear shocks, Customer Service told me to take to another dealer. The other local Dealer Victory Toyota Refuses to see my vehicle!!
Called customer service again for the forth time now. They are telling me to go back to Salinas and Have them do a test drive to verify my vehicle quailifies for the TSB. Basically my vehicle has bottomed out several times in the past 4000 miles and has a harsh ride. What is the best method to demonstrate to the dealer???
Does

Well finally, after working with Brunswick Toyota, they did the TSB and it rides awesome. It took since 06-02-08 to today to finally get it done. Thanks to Steve at Brunswick Toyota for making the calls to corporate to authorize this on my 08.

What did you tell the service guy when you went into Cobb County Toyota to get this done? Did they give you any problem and did they do the wheel alignment?

So I'm trying to get the TSB performed on my 08 and when I called the dealer they acted like it would be no problem at all but after I dropped it off a few hours later they called and said that mine didn't need it. The service rep said there are no TSB's that add another leaf spring to any truck and that my truck has the most the correct leaf springs installed for any Tacoma. So I've called the 1-800 and talked with a rep there and am waiting for them to return a call to see what they will do. North Point Toyota in North Littlerock, AR. Will let you guys know how it goes after customer service calls me back.

Toyota of Whittier, CA, did my suspension upgrade without much hassle.

The first service rep I talked to had never even heard of a TSB, said he'd call me back. Never did!

So I called the Service Manager, he said there was no problem in doing it. I brought the truck and the TSB in, they ordered the parts, and a week later, it was done.

I've been going to this dealer for service since 1996, and I have been very happy with their work. That one service rep has been about my worst experience - oh well, nothing is perfect, eh?

Took my '06 Prerunner TRD Sport LB into Lewis Toyota in Topeka, KS yesterday for a suspension squeek and blower motor noise. I also noticed a small leak near the power stearing pump when I changed the oil. He quickly picked up on the timing cover TSB, and lubed my rear springs. I mentioned a future job hauling large amounts of hay several hundred miles to see what he would do about the suspension TSB. He was unaware of it, but looked into it. CAme back to me, knodding, asking if I have a harsh ride. Told me it would take a little time to get all the parts in, but he would call me when he was ready to replace all 4 shocks, springs, do the timing cover work, and replace the blower motor. I asked about the tailgate as well, but Im beyond 40000 miles so no can do there. Great experience so far!! More when the work is finished.
