Auto Tranny drag 2010

Hey guys a question I have a 2010 DC LB 4X4 Sport with an auto tranny. I have 3000 miles on it now and just took it on it's longest trip so far about 175 miles on the highway.
I noticed while driving if I take my foot off the gas and coast rather than hitting the brakes to slow down a bit I have a huge drag. The truck will slow down 5mph within 10 seconds. Has anyone else noticed this? Will the tranny TSP for shifting problem also fix this? Thanks

 

its normal,i dont like it neither but they all do it

 

I had the tranny TSB done and this behavour didn't change. However, it did fix the shifting in first and second and now it's fantastic!

Also, the TSB did not fix the lunge that sometimes happens when your sitting at a red light.

I get this same behavior as well.
I am guessing say if a boat is being towed and you take your foot off the gas, the downshift will prevent the momentum from making the truck go too fast, particularly downhill.

 

I know this sounds kind of obvious, but make sure you have it in D rather than 4, as I noticed that it will definetely have that engine brake type of "drag" when you don't have it in Drive.

 

Current gen tacos are big fans of engine braking, for better or worse.

Never noticed it before. It's not a big deal to me but it's my first Taco and wasn't sure.
Wish they made the sport in a manual. But Love the truck so far.

 

Its normal.... every 2nd generation Tacoma does it.

Or just switch the controls to something other than either of the defrost settings and be sure your A/C is off.
