So if one were to come out... How many of you would run out and buy one?

What if you didn't have a tacoma? Would you wait a few months or just go out there and pick one up?

I'm just curious about Toyota 1st run quality. I've had terrible luck with 1st model year vehicles in the past, and swore I'd never do it again, but this time I'll be looking to custom-order my next vehicle, and I'll be buying right around the fall 2010 release.

It had better not turn out as BIIIIG as the new Runner. That thing is a few inches wider and a few taller. The whole front end sticks out way too far to be usefull on a truck. The approach angle is useless. The current Tacoma is too big already.

    hmm..

    2010 Tacoma Appraoch / Departure angle: 35/26
    2010 4runner Trail edition approach / departure angle: 33/26

The approach angle is similar to the Tacoma... I doubt you would even notice.

I would personally like to see a Hybrid version or at least 23/27 mpg. Its a Toyota for crying out loud.

If you consider the premium for a Prius over a Corolla, you're talking a $40,000 Tacoma. Would you still buy it?

The fuel ratings will go up as CAFE standards inch higher. Seeing dual VVT-i would be more likely since it appears to increase output and improve efficiency at the same time. They've already done it with the 4Runner. I doubt we'll see DOD in a Tacoma before we see it on a Tundra, and thats if we see it at all.

It makes perfect sense to all of us to drop in the new 4.6...let us hope. I know it wouldn't be mated to a manual though so I'm already pre-bummed. :p

That is the ONLY thing that would make me consider selling my current baby is if they offered a v8 option...but I doubt it. With the new 4runner (a heavier vehicle) they took away the 8 cylinder option and replaced it with the dual VVT-i 6cyl that has about 35 more horse/torque than our 4.0s.

I think we'll see that dual VVT-i as the new high-trim engine if Toyota does update the Tacoma. And there's an easy solution for matching that power increase in the current 4.0s: blow it.

Come on !!! Im going to close the deal on a 2010 Tacoma.. Low APR and $1000 Toyota Rebate plus $500 off through dealership negotiations !!! They had to get a Prerunner from 5 hours away for me.

When do you think we will get info on the Tacoma if it is present at the Chicago Auto Show ? Also, if the Tacoma is NOT present does that mean 2011 will not be redesign year ?

Let me know what ya guys think, this dealer is busting my balls.

I'll be on a similar boat this summer... A new Taco sounds great, but I'm also wary about 1st year run vehicles due to unforseen defects. I'm unsure of how many issues Toyotas may have, but from the looks of it, they're just as susceptible to 1st model year issues as any other company (I've had many issues in my 2007 jeep and my 1999 silverado, both years where new models were rolled out).

So I'd say you should feel comfortable buying the Tacoma right now, if the deal is that great.

I've been holding out on a Taco knowing a update/redesign was coming IF this is true I might go put a tent on the lot of my dealership and wait for the first one to come in!:D

For the record I think the new 4runner is one sexy beast.

I see that there is no Tacoma listed to be on display with the production models at the Chicago Auto Show.
    http://www.chicagoautoshow.com/vehicles/PickupsSUVsMinivans.asp

"Toyota announced during a sales call yesterday that it will debut an all-new Scion model at the New York Auto Show in April and a heavily updated Toyota model at the Chicago Auto Show in February. Our bets? Scion iQ and Toyota Tacoma."

I guess we will have to wait until Feb. 10th......
