You said you had a truck on order, but the dealer didn't order a truck from the factory just for you, they grabbed a truck already planned to be built, or built and in transit and tagged it to come to your chosen dealer. If you had ordered even one non standard item for your particular zone area, it would have to have been specially built, and you would not see it for 3-5 months. What you got that you did not expect may be standard across the board for 09, or if not, it was the closest to what you ordered that was available for quick delivery. Toyota is still not totally "customer order" friendly, and the fact that there are not as many build variations as with the big 3 makes it easier for them not to be. the trucks your dealer will get 3 months from now are already allocated, and only a few items can be changed between now and production date. Most people want the cab configuration, engine choice, trim pkg; SR5, TRD, etc, color, and a few listed in the brochure type extras, and if it is a popular build combo, there are several already planed to be built anyway, so the dealer just picks the color and combo and waits or swaps a blue for a red before it is past the locked in stage or just gets one headed to another dealer by swapping a similar but slightly different truck before either leaves the factory or inland port center. Have fun with your new truck, and be glad you got it as quick as you did, and that it is the correct, exact build, or if not at least very close. And welcome to the Toyota truck world.

I bought a 2009 Tacoma a week ago monday. Double Cap TRD Sport. No mechanical adjustements of any kind with the exception of the safety system. Stereo system now has a 6 disc mp3 player as well as the IPOD hook up. Speakers are still in door, not in the ceiling. Some good sophistication to the rollover side curtain airbags and the traction control. Ability to deactivate both of these for heavy 4wd. Ride quality is excellent.

Ceiling speakers are in the Access Cab. Doublecab are still in the doors.

Are you still able to get bucket seats in the Access Cab Prerunner? All I've been seeing are the bench seats.

Speakers for dbl cab in the doors not in ceiling. I have the full JBL system with the 6 disc MP3 player along with the separate IPOD hookup. Havent even tried the IPOD hookup because I've been so pleased with the sound quality of standard MP3 (stands to make sense that the direct MP3 would sound better). Sub in the back is a bit weak and seems to fade out a low frequencies and seems tuned more for the boomy, thumpy based. Plastic can resonate at times which I may have checked out. That said, as a person who enjoys good music, I would give the factory system a 8 out of 10.
I'll also add that the rear view camera is a bit of a gimic. It's about 1 * 1.5 and as apposed to the Tundra it is actually embedded into the rear view mirror (left 1/3rd contains the screen when you go into reverse). If your dog likes to lay down behind your truck I suppose it will work. You'll still use all of your mirrors in other words. |

So the aux input is part of the factory deck? or is it gonna be a satellite unit?

On the first post regarding the tailgate camera, the camera is just to the right of the handle and unless you looked hard you would not even notice it. The camera points down over the bumper so it's best for backing up a boat/bike, etc but certainly will not replace the rear view mirror. There is a quick connect cord that you can unhook when you want to take the tailgate off.
Regarding the stereo the auxillary input is similar to my buddies Tundra and is at the bottom of the center console near the power supplies. Makes sense so that you can charge the Ipod and also keep it tucked away. Keep in mind it's not an ipod control unit but an Aux. Regarding my resonance level on the plastic sub box, I think a little bit of sound deadening material on the outside will help out. Couple other items that I've read about on this site that I would update as well. The smoked headlights are only slight. Unless you knew to look for them you probably wouldn't notice. |

Is it possible to look at the rear access cab seats and see if a swap from 08 bench to these would be possible? I'd like to get rid of the bench and just grab the butt part of the 09 seat, if it's possible to do a conversion. It would solve my sub dilema, while still allowing me access to the storage.

The regular cab already is unavailable in Canada. I toyed with the idea of bringing one over the border, but It's more hassle than it's worth. Too bad, if it was available there would be absolutely no reason to even consider a Ranger.

More hassle than it's worth? You can save $3000.00+ and get the truck you want.

At this point, I'm also not sure exactly what upgrades will be needed for it to meet the Canadian regulations, but it doesn't look like it will be too pricey. |

I am dealing with a broker that brings vehicles in for you. I can still save about $4000.00 on a 4x4 DC TRD Sport and it's delivered to my door. I'm guessing the broker makes about $2000.00 on it but that's ok with me. I still save money and get the truck I want.
What part of Canada are you in?
