After reading this thread, I did this on my 2014 Tacoma. I yanked out the seats, headrests, and two small storage bin covers. Then I cut a template out of cardboard. I laid this over a sheet of 52" X 25" X 5/8th's plywood, marked my cuts, and I was off and running.

What a huge improvement. My favorite storage bin is the Sterilite bin sold at Walmart. Before I did the mod, I couldn't fit the bin into my access cab without having to move my seat forward. I'm 6'2", so need to have the seat all the way back. Also, the wheels on one end of the bin were useless in the unmodified cab because there wasn't anything to roll them on. This made it difficult to load and unload a heavy bin. Now I can put my seat all the way back, and my bin rolls in and out with ease. And because the bottom of the bin has a slightly hollowed out rectangle on the bottom, it straddles my hinges perfectly, so there is no weight resting on top of the hinges. Thanks to all for the instructions.

Oh, and no wise cracks about "Toby". He came with the wife, and now we're best friends! :)

    I need something like this!
I just put the seat down stuffed sleeping bags, pillows and blankets behind the front seat where there was extra room and threw her dog bed in on it lol.

That came out great John. Looks like Toby's happy with the view from up there too.

That came out really nice. I may need to update mine to include hinges with to access the lower storage compartment easier. I think taking out the original plastic lids will help with that.

This thread is awesome. Has anyone done this with the OEM subwoofer?

Haven't seen one but there's plenty of room underneath for a sub box. Might make the dog a little tense though ;)

I am no longer needing my dog platform, ex took the dog with her, so if anyone is interested in it PM me. I am not looking to deal with shipping, so local pickup only. I am only looking to get fair value for it.

If you get a head-on collision he won't be saying that.
Don't think there is no chance of that happening.
At the very least he/she should have a leash preventing being thrown.

    Hi Everyone!

This is my first post! I'm the proud new owner of a 2011 Tacoma AC. So far, I love it.

I've got 2 dogs and as this thread knows, AC's suck for your dogs comfort in the back. I built my platform this afternoon.

    Here's what I did:

Platform - 52" x 20" (20" width was great for me between the seat back rests and the rest cup holder behind the front seats)

Legs - 4 - 12.5" x 1.5" x 3.5" - all four legs are on hinges for easy in and out and set up.

Wrapped in indoor/ outdoor carpet. I used a staple gun and 3M Super 77 adhesive.

Yeah, the new ones do, but you guys have a great solution. Pups should be real happy.

One reason I like my '08... just flip the seats down :p :D

Would you consider building a second for a profit? I'd be a buyer if the price was right.

    Lots baby!
Very nice additions for any dog.

This was one of my first mods. Since I am 2008, much easier. I just needed carpet.

No question ... the full fold down seats were ideal ... not sure why they (Toyota ) changed it ... although now with the offer of no rear seat they may have seen the error of their ways ...

    My solution ...

I don't have a dog, just wanted better platform for Costco runs.
Did not want to alter stock components, as seat is sometimes needed.
Had some TREX decking leftover, bought aluminum angle, and flat stock
for front legs. Easy in and out, and rolls forward for storage access.

That looks like a great solution. Nice job. Got pics of the front legs?

...and yes, even without a dog it's worth doing. Makes getting the groceries home a ton easier.

Is there an option of selecting NO rear seats on the 2015 access cabs??

Anyone know why they removed the 6cyl option from the 2015 access cabs?

Here it is on the bench. TREX does not hold screws well.
Use panel adhesive or power grab after fitting.
