I Run a Deka Intimidator AGM battery. I am pretty hard on it with lights and winching and it is still running strong.
To make you battery last much longer or to bring an old battery back to like new condition. Check these out.

For Daily drivers just need the maintainer.
If you have other things that use batteries: ATV, Boat, Lawnmower, Vehicle, Etc. Then the charger is really great. You can throw it on your daily rig over night once in a while to clean the plates, and use it on other items to keep the batteries fresh. My old man got one and it brought one of the ATV batteries that had gone bad back to life, along with another old battery he had lying around. A third battery the charger decided was just plain bad, so he got rid of that one. I have been pretty impressed with the Charger.

The factory panasonic took a dump on me a few months ago at about 47k miles. Replaced it with an Advance Auto parts autocraft silver.

Wow that's a really long time. Most of he newer fords chevy's and nissan all needed their oem battery replaced. That's just what I see at work, and mines a rough estimate. but then again a lot of people neglect a battery until its time to replace. I've seen batteries leaking and people still want to try and charge it or try and see if they could still use it for another week  I dunno about these people down here sometimes haha

I can understand people neglecting them. whats crazy is my factory panasonic looked practically brand new when it died, wasnt leaking a drop of acid and didnt have any corrosion. I was surprised it went that soon. I replaced the factory battery in my Honda Accord I had before the taco at 120K miles and it was still going strong 6 years later at 210K miles when I sold it.

if you guys want some amazing batteries look into marine batteries. theyre designed to have crazy amp draw for electrohydraulics like raising and lowereing lower units. they cost though...
my father runs a marina with one of his buddies and they use marine gel cell batteries in everything. just a thought...till you see the price tag...

EDIT: Optima Blue top is over $200 but it will never let you down

Thanks for the info dan. Roland i was thinking about the marina blue top from optima but it seems expensive for a battery. I was told today from the shop that they said interstate is probably the best battery.

the marine batteries are what get you started when your a couple hundred miles out to sea and noone to jump you lol. my dad ran his suburban for over 100 miles on a bad alternator. Luckily it was during the day (no headlight) but still, thats impressive. it was 2 or 3 years ago and he still has the battery in the suburban and it doesnt matter if its 100 or -20 outside he gets his truck started.

PS interstate is made by johnson controls too...

My stock battery lasted about 3 years ~24,000 miles. Replaced it with a Duralast Gold. They have a great warranty and you don't have to take out a loan to get one.

hey just another thought my father put out there. his buddy hauls boats at the marina and the trailer has a 10klbs winch. two optima blue tops in parrallel will run the winch on the trailer all day long on a charge. just food for thought, what if you do some serious damage to the truck and cant run the engine. its nice to know that just the battery and your winch can get you out.

One in my 4x4 since march(09), just stays connected even though its only been driven maybe 10 times its still awesome, never slow to crank! (1989 R1500 suburban 4x4 5.7L)

And since July(09) in my Diesel Vw Golf 1.9L daily driven with after market lights and a big stereo.

Edit: Bought both at the same time because i was going to run dual batts in the 4x4, only ever put one in and then the battery in my Vw died in july... still had a fresh charge when i installed it.

I did some looking around. I was curious about the validity of the diehards being rebadged odyssey's. I called odyssey and asked, he said he didn't know, but gave me the part number for their battery. I looked around more, and found some guys who really looked into the issue. If I remember right, they came up with the diehards being essentially odyssey's, but they did not have the exact same internals. They couldn't say either way, but they guessed the quality of lead wasn't as high as the oddysey, but very similar.

    I'm still debating however.

Both have a 4 year free replacement warranty

From what the rep at odyssey told me, we need the PC1500RT (reverse terminal)

    Diehard Pro's
100 month prorated warranty (8 years and 4 months)
    Cheaper

    DH Cons
no reverse terminal available (afaik) Which means you will probably have to extend the battery cables.
housing duribility issues reported on sears' website by many users, as well as the lack of reverse terminals, causing fitment issues
Supposed lesser quality internals Sears Reviews

    Odyssey Pro's
    Reverse terminal available
    Supposed higher quality internals
haven't heard of any issues, although I'm sure they could suffer from the same housing issues.

    Odyssey Cons
    Price

I'm tempted to just go with the odyssey, for ease of installation, I'm not confident in extending battery cables to deal with the lack of reverse terminals on the Diehard.

If Diehard came out with reverse terminals I would just go that route.
