Might work if you can effectively get it between the gap. The problem is most of the weight of the switch is behind the dash with no support. It really needs to be pulled in tightly to stop the rattle. I mentioned felt to the dealer. They were not sure it would help and it was not was found on their work. According to them it either fits tightly or not. I'm banking on the shims.

Just a thought if your shims don't work. Rather than trying felt, maybe try fun foam. That stuff will compact to whatever thickness you need and you can cut it to exact size to fit like a washer over it. Fun foams also works well in the bottom of the cupholders to keep drinks from rattling.

That is a good idea also. So far the small wooden shims are working fine. It's finally good to be rattle free in this area. After having two switches installed, I'm wondering if anyone else is having this rattle besides me?

I'm new here but, I'm looking and hoping for some help, I'm wondering if this Rattle you refer to is something I have, mine has a noise coming from the rh dash area, sounds like rocks in a tin can, or something hung under truck, dragging!, I can't seem to locate this when the truck is stopped, sometimes you can shake truck while sitting and it can be heard, but still can;t locate in or out of truck, under hood or where ever, it is worse after it has been setting for a few hours and especially when the weather is cold.

Any and all help would be welcomed, have not talked to a dealer yet, figured I might just get strange looks.

    Thanks for any help

Are you sure it's not the fan blower motor? There's a TSB the blower motor.
