I have a 2008 Tacoma, manual 4wd. I have taken my truck into the dealership because it is still under warranty, but the Noise is when ever I am backing up and I apply the brakes and loud clunking noise comes from either under the front end or near the front brakes. I also tried this when I pulled forward and sometimes it makes the sound as well. Is anyone esle having this problem or know of what might be wrong?

I have it too. I think i is the dust covers hitting someting under there. If thats what it is there is nothing to worry about.

it might be that but it is very loud and it only happens once when i start moving and then after that it wont make anything after that. Is that how it sounds with you?

It is the play between the brake pads & the calipers when you switch directions, every toyota does it.

I think its "brake slap". How are the front brake pads? I had the same noise. I change the front brake pads and it stop.

When I reverse, I get a rumbling sound. It sounds like it's coming from under the radio. When I turn on the A/C, the noise goes away.
