If you are challeneged like me than yes. But if you follow the directions and use the correct tools than it should be fairly easy.

They are not as difficult as you might think. The hardest part for me was getting the guts up to start cutting up my grill. Once you have the middle bars cut out and the small "leftover" tabs sanded down, it's just a matter of reinforcing the holes left behind with fiberglass and filling it smooth with the bondo. Attaching the grillcraft on the backside can be tricky but I just sandwiched some brackets on the backside between the fiberglass and the plastic, then used small bolts to attach the grillcraft to the brackets. Then paint over the bondo and you're done.

I have one of these and they are awesome for cutting things flush and sanding in tight areas. I think dremel makes a similar one that is probably less expensive.

No, I used a flat black. I like the way it matches just fine.

You can always order a spare from certifit and get started on that. I found one off of ebay for 12 bucks and did my mods to that then ordered color matched paint from ebay for my color code and painted it with that. The color was a perfect match. I am by no means experienced at body work but pretty good at doing things if I read up on it enough. I had the ugly SR5 chrome grill and chrome insert and now the front looks completely different. Good luck!

I thought fiberglass and bondo don’t stick to plastic. And even if you get it to stick, in time it will crack and pop out. Has this happen to anyone yet?

Make sure you rough up the plastic where you are laying the fiberglass and extend it past the areas you are covering and you should be fine. I haven't had any problems with mine and I've had it for a little over 2 years.

I'm in the same boat as you with the grillcraft, and I clicked on this thread thinking...."hmm, now that I have the time....".

I also have an extra grille so I'm very tempted.

It really isn't too hard. Just take your time and follow the directions.
It is more of a tedious and time consuming job.
