General Grabber AT2 (opinions please)

New tire time! Want to hear some opinions on the General Grabber AT2's. They look sick but do they last? Getting a 265/75/16 all terrain tire. Smart move?

 

asking in the TIRE section may get better results....

 

reviews I've seen have them lasting as far as 65,000 mile. The key is proper up-keep (tire rotation, air, etc.). But that's true for any tire. As far as performance, it works well on any surface (especially got to test the snow recently). Not to keen on the performance in mud, but that's not why I bought it. I haven't had a problem with the tire when adjusting air pressures for different terrain driving either. All around I would say a good tire in deed.

Look for the Grabber - v - Firestone thread... still active and moving along last week... Poll too... Grabber's scored well, and are awesome.

I have Firestone A/T, and the Grabber AT2's, and the General is far supoerior.....

Love the aggressive tread, and after two years, wearing exceptionally well.

That's the route I'm taking here in the next month or so. I wanted to upsize to the 265/75R16 but they only come in load range E. So I think I'll be sticking with 265/70.

 

In my opinion, it is a tire.

 

personal experience, stay away from them. Ive only seen a few sets come in but when they do they allways are unevenly worn. I have yet to see a set that is wearing well. Overall tread design is good, very similar to the BFG All Terrain. I say spend a few extra bucks and get the BFG or go with another AWESOME choice the Hankook ATM. These have been great tires so far and for the price you are really getting your moneys worth.

 

I have them on my Tacoma and we have them on our 04 Rav4. Both my wife and I like them

 

Thats what happens when you dont rotate them. Any tire will do that. The ones on our Rav4 have 35K miles on them and they are wore perfectly even and no cupping/chopping. I rotate them everyother oil change(6-7K miles)

 

Have em on mine and they look great and i have loved thier traction abilities. havent got in the snow with them yet but evidently i wont be disapointed.

 

^They do have decent traction. If you want an agressive tire thats good on the street, mud, and great in the snow/ice, I suggest the Super Swamper Trxus MT. I had those on my 05 Tacoma and they just blew my mind in the snow. They have lots of sipping which gives you your wet/snow traction. They have good sized lugs and a decent sidewall for the mud, and they are radials and balance out nice.

 

Had a set on my wife's subaru baja and they were an awesome tire until the car was wrecked! Will definately be putting a set on my taco as well as her z71 tahoe...just gotta wait for the tax return

 

I had them on my 06 which I traded in. I liked em nice tread good wear for the two years I owned em. Nice looking tread and was pretty good in the snow. In fact I'm going to buy another set this month for my 2010. $540 for 4 tires installed ain't bad IMO
