Ok, so yall know I'm new on here and in the world of Tacoma's in general, so I wanted to run this by yall and make sure I wasn't doing anything stupid. I really like the TRD shifter knob that comes on the FJ 6 speed and was wondering if that was a big Tacoma "no no" by crossing into the FJ world. I think they're pretty sharp. But, like I said, I don't wanna show somebody or tell somebody that knows more about Taco's than me and them start laughing at me.. I don't want it to be like those guys that put the double sided tape scoop on their hood (sorry if any of yall do that. lol). Anyways, let me know what yall think. I think you can get them for like $42 or something like that. And I guess my other question is, will it just screw onto where the existing one was? Thanks alot guys. I love this forum.

    Do it!

    I would.

It should fit, I doubt they have changed the shifter threads from the tacoma to the fj, as they are still using the same thread pattern as the early 90's pickups as well.

I wanted a different shifter and got a cheaper knob that is smaller than the fj and black leather that says TRD in the middle.(smaller ball design) I like it. Like $25 on Toyotapartscheap.com.

Might be cheaper to just hit a cue ball with a drill press.

The TRD one is badass. The pistol is awful unless it actually fires a weapon....in that case I'll take one!

I was thinking a cue ball for the automatic but wanted to cut down the length of the shaft so it sits closer to the console. Otherwise I think it would look funny. Until I can find a new shaft then I will leave mine alone.

It also seems weird saying "shaft" over and over again. :)

With either of these knobs, is there any change in the way shifts feel? Maybe cleaner due to the hard material? Or a difference in resistance due to the new size of the knob? How big is it (diameter)?
