"Rep. Edolphus Towns, D-N.Y., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, asked about similar problems in the Toyota Tacoma truck. He said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received more than 100 complaints about sudden acceleration in the Tacoma, which does not have the same accelerator pedal assembly as the recalled models.
The Los Angeles Times reported Nov. 29 that the average number of sudden acceleration complaints involving the Tacoma increased dramatically after Toyota introduced electronic throttles on the truck in 2005. Towns also cited some complaints in which faulty floor mats, which sparked a Toyota recall last year, did not appear to be the cause."

Has anyone had an issue with the Tacoma? Toyota seems to think the floor mats the issue begins and ends with the mats.

im guessing this is the placebo effect in action. some people were told toyota accelerators got stuck and caused sudden acceleration so they assumed their tacoma did to. so thier mind manufactured that they were going faster than they thought they should so they bitched and complained.

i expected better from tacoma owners. must have been their wives :D

It's probably the small "lurch" that can occur when the AC (or defroster) kicks in when stopped.

Never once a problem nor has one in my family that drives a Toyota ever had a problem. I just wonder how many of these people that have had accidents from "sticking accelerators" were actually from that or just try to blame Toyota for there lack of driving skills???

That's my guess also. If someone hits the person in front of them because of that, they should park their truck and walk to the nearest driving school or take a bus.

What does that have to do with anything?

Between the NTSD, Ray La Hood and Rep. Edolphus Towns, (D-N.Y.) it looks like they are trying to help out GM (Government Motors) and rip apart a foreign owned car company. Wait till the Japanese government starts trashing Boeing or some other US company. We will see how many jobs are lost in the US.

I don't want to make this a political rant but this current administration won't stop till they are sent packing by the voters of this country or they succeed in ripping it apart. What is next, did Bush and Cheney build parts for Toyota?

This has been beaten to death. "More than 100 complaints" about a vehicle that has how many on the road? Millions? That congressman can go F himself and I am not missing the fact that he's a democrat.

Exactly. I've said the same in other threads; our govt owning shares in GM and Chrysler is not to be ignored.

Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.

There was a lady here in San Diego who was sitting in her driveway "when her Tacoma suddenly accelerated forcing her to crash into her garage"...

Sounds like the silicone breast implant thing... make some money off of a successful company due to some peoples neurosis. Now there back on the market and found safe.... What we need are more trial attorneys - don't worry, I think there will be a government study that says we have a shortage of trial attorneys (since we haven't driven the last capitalists out of the US).

LOL... so now when a Tacoma owner runs into the back of another vehicle, maybe insurance will say it was the trucks fault and not the owner??
