Axle gearing/bigger tires

Am I correct in my analysis that the Tacoma comes (4cyl, auto trans,reg cab) with 3:38 gears and 26" dia tires? 215/70 r15 and if I wanted stock power/performance with 31" tires I would need to change over to 4:10 gears. And all Tacos come with LSD. Does this sound right to the rest of you Yotas?

 

3:31 to 4:10 gears from 215/70 r15 to 31X10.50 15LT or LT245/75 R16

nope, sounds wrong to me....only the TRD Sport 6 lug trucks came w/ the mechanical LSD, supposedly the 2009 or 2010 year they started to do an "auto LSD", which just plays w/ the brake system to get you somewhat the affect of the mechanical LSD.

also, the 5 lug xrunner's might come w/ some sort of LSD, but you would have to do your research on that, as i dont know anything about their suspension or drive train since its different than mine.

if you have 26" tires and going to 31's, then yea, your 4.10 assumption is just about right as your increase in tire diameter is about 20%, and 1.2*3.38=4.056. just know that you will lose some of your MPGs no matter what going to the larger tires. also, since your a 5 lug, make sure you get the right gears and such, as im almost positive your pumpkin is different than the 6 lug trucks (but i could be wrong).
