I don't think that would be advisable, the bolt on slider is not meant to support the full weight of the truck. If you plan on using these for that application, it would be best to purchase them for weld on.

    guys:

i contacted brandon sometime last summer for some frame rails and a bullbar. after being a complete flake about whether i wanted to go ahead with an order (waiting on something else to justify spending the cash) i went ahead and ordered them around the new year. by that time, i'd been back and forth with him so much i'm actually surprised he didn't just tell me to f$#% right off. but i guess cash is cash.

it took some time for brandon and his boys to put them together (i asked him for some custom angles) but he kept me in the loop the whole way. when they arrived, i was surprised at how rowdy these things are, definitely high quality steel and nice welds.

since then, i've had some questions and brandon has been timely and super detailed in his responses. the guy takes his time to make sure you are happy, even if you are a total n00b like me (first truck, etc.)

why would you want you truck to have a slider you cant trust to support the weight of the truck. there are plenty of bolt holes to mount it with, so i would say if youc ant, its not worth it

yeah man, there will def be times if you wheel the right way, that yoru truck will be resting on the sliders..i have seen it many times, and sure it willhappen to everyone eventually if the wheel correctly. sliders should support the weight of the truck, imo

There are some bolt on sliders that can take the weight of the truck, but not these. As his description states, these attache to the factory step mounts and they are not intended to support the weight of the truck.

If you are looking at avid sliders get the weld on set, you won't be disappointed.

    Thanks

I have examined the pictures here pretty close. Some are very close to the rocker panels and would not be much use as a step for access into your truck. Other photos seem to show the outside rail of the slider further out so that it would perform better as a step.

If you DO want to use the slider as a step ask them to build it with slightly longer "posts" so that the slider is a bit further out when you weld them on. I know other makers of sliders leave the posts longer so the end user can fit the sliders as they prefer; further out for a better "step", or close fitting to allow your truck to navigate a narrow trail.

Hope this helps, but call AVID for the real answer, I bet they can supply sliders however your heart desires!

I am working with Brandon to get a set of sliders for my Access Cab Tacoma. No doubt there are several good fabricators out there building great sliders. Problem is shipping a pair of big heavy sliders across this big country gets expensive. In this case buying local is an advantage because you can eliminate the shipping fees.

Here's mine. Brandon did great work. I had them powder coated with a hammer black finish which came out awesome.

I ordered a set of Bolt On sliders for my truck from Brandon at Avid Offroad. The communication was great along the way, at my request he also sent them out and had them powdercoated and once they were done he installed them for no extra charge at his shop.

    Great guy to deal with.

    Elkster9, That is great Service!

I made the deposit for my Avid sliders this morning. Mine will be welded on and I ordered them in raw steel. I will clean them up real good and primer them with POR15. Top coat will likely be Rustoleum rattle can in satin black.
