Do these sliders stick out far enough to protect from door dings and to use as a step? How far past the body do they stick out? Thanks

Those are fancy steps posing as sliders, in their site they state this quote:

"The 2005+ Tacoma Sliders can be bolted on or welded on. The bolt-on sliders attach to the factory running board mounts. The bolt-on sliders can be used as steps, dent protection, and light off-roading, but are not designed to support heavy loads or more extreme off-roading."

If they attach to the factory running boards location, they bolt to the cab, not the chasis, if you load them offroad, the cab will take the load and give one way or another, that's why true offroad sliders bolt or weld to the chasis not the cab.

Build your own with square 2"x2"x1/8" and 3/16" plate and bolt them to the chasis , many threads out there with pics about sliders.

    Good Luck

True... I want a durable step for my truck though and not a slider and the OEM Toyota ones are about the same price... So why not?

Pardon me while I hijack your thread but there is another vendor/sponsor on this site that has real sliders too. I am real happy with mine. They work as steps and I can put a hilift jack under them too. And Adam only charges $235 plus shipping.

What is the difference between the two sliders? They both say Dbl Cab short bed weld on.

No, these are bolt-ons. I like the idea of being able to install these myself. Plus, my truck will never see any serious off-roading.
