I want to remove the chrome badges on the tailgate and doors so I can paint them black. My older car's badges were held on with clips set into holes in the body, my Miata had them held on with double stick tape. Before I try to remove the ones on my '07 Tacoma, I thought I would ask, probably saving me some $$$ by not breaking them.

They use a form of double sided tape to hold them on. You can easily take them off with a hair dryer and fishing line. Use some Goo Gone and remove the rest of the sticky stuff.

There are alot of threads on this subject so if you want more information I suggest using the search function. With this Forum most everything has been talked about. completed by someone, or debated on. Just use the SEARCH function first and if you dont find it or are not sure just ask us.

You can reapply them with 3m automotive mounting tape, found at any walmart or pepboys, etc.

As mentioned, just double sided tape. Hairdryer and fishing line is typically the best way to remove these types of badges as jeremiekc suggested.
