when you switch from 2wd to 4wd hi, how long should the 4x4 light in the dash blink before it actually is in 4wd? ive noticed sometimes mine blinks maybe twice and goes in, then other times it blinks about 20 times before the light stays steady on.

If it's blinking for a long time, you need to do something to give it a chance to engage. Try moving, turning the wheels slightly, etc.. If you're trying to engage or disengage while on the move, don't accelerate, decelerate, or make major turns while engaging or disengaging.
