Mud Flaps

i finally trimmed the ones i got the other day.......broke one at uwharrie, so i definitely needed them shorter. look pretty good too. the stock ones hang way too damn low in the front!!

 

You have a pic? I'm considering doing this but want to see it on the truck first.

 

i havent had time to get one yet, but i'll try to this weekend. i can tell you that i cut 5 inches off, rounded the corners, and it looks way better, and they shouldnt get broken off now.

 

Took mine off the second day I had the truck.
I think it makes it look taller without them

 

mine are on at the moment, but i've ripped them off off-road before. I think im going to build(or possibly buy) some rock sliders so i figure they should protect my rockers from chips and i'd take em off then. I think it looks better with them off. Before i got my lift, i was running my 265's on aftermarket wheels and they rubbed so i had em off for a week and IMO it looked way cleaner.

 

I trimmed off about 5 inchs off my front mud flaps. I left the back ones alone.

 

Will replace mine at some point, since I already have had one rip off and had to dig up some hardware to reattach it.

 

I removed mine last night and there is a groove in the paint where the outer edge of the flaps sat. In some spots all the way through. Any one else have this problem?

 

Rear on front off due to lift and rubbing, easy fix for that just havn't had the time.
Alot of people have had this issue, check out my fix in the photos, came out pretty good, and the silver matched up real well.

 

A good set of softer rubber ones would be nice

 

yeah, that would be cool, but when i was looking for some that were flexible for the 05 and up, i didnt find any. hopefully, someone will come out with some soon. when i had my 06, i cut mine 5 inches and rounded them off, and they were still functional and looked good.

 

Actually this is what I was referring to. It caused a groove in the paint. Anybody have this problem?

 

I've had my '06 for 2 yrs and 8 months. It's got 60,000 miles on it and still has all the original flaps, and they have never come off.

I removed only my front flaps because they rub driving into pretty much anywhere with an incline!!

 

After seeing other Tacomas at highway speeds, I had to trim mine... about 5 inches off all 4. I had them off, but the holes drove me crazy, so I took the jigsaw to them... I heard the '05s were shorter than the '06-'09s...? I wonder if you could still order them?

 

you should be able to still order them, and i have seen them on ebay from time to time, but they get bought up pretty quickly there.

 

If you do that do you want to sell your original ones! I really want to get a new set of the ones that say 4x4!

 

actually......i had made that comment when i had my 06 prerunner, and i had torn one of the mud flaps off.

 

Do you still got those mudflaps

 

nah.....i threw the broken ones away, and put 2 used ones on before i traded the truck.
