    I've gone through a couple Stants on my 07...one didn't lock and the next one broke after a couple years. Just picked up a Murray part#5509 from Oreilly's (formerly known as Shucks.) This one seems alot better...can either be used as a regular cap or locking. When locked the cap just spins.

    My sister borrowed my 2001 Tacoma and forgot to take the gas cap key. She stopped for gas, and couldn't opened the gas cap. So some jack ass across from her jammed a screw driver in my locking gas cap and turned it w no problems. Destroyed the key hole. So I am not 100% on these anymore

    Agreed. But I did not know it would be that easy. She said it took him 10 secs to get the cap off. IMO, they are a waste of time.

    Locks on stuff keep the honest people out, and just slow down the crooks

    yea that is true. but it just like are stereo's they are very easy to jack, it is all about how bad you want it.

    The lack of a locking gas filler door, locking glove box, and no glove box light are some of the many issues I have with the Toyota Tacoma. They could have increased the price by $200 or less and added these items...

    I've had this lock for a year and it no longer stays locked. If you spin it to the left, it makes that clicking sound like it should. But if you tilt it while your spinning it on a certain angle, it opens right up without the key.

    Be sure to check yours.

    The last two or three times I put locking gas caps on vehicles, the seal was inadequate and the check engine light came on. Are these working ok for you people?

    I bought mine from oreillys about three weeks ago. It worked without a problem until this last fill up. I filled up on Friday an drove some on Saturday afternoon. The truck didn't move on Sunday. Early this morning I get ready for work and immediately noticed the check engine light. I put the original gas cap back on but the light is still present. How did you clear yours since it came on for you about three times? I don't like the way that it secures to the filler neck, it seems loose.

    Is the stant better then the murray from oreillys? I assume they both work the same. I can get the stant from Amazon for 14 bucks or the murray from oreillys for 16.
