Yes...it will work. The grey mod was for older Tacoma's and the new generation is the basically the same with the exception of different color wires to locate. __________________

    getting there....
 the manual only says 5mph, more than likely for safety reasons. lock it in and take off. very fun, especially if you are in a field somewhere:D!!

My little cousin has a little 1st gen. single cab 2wd- he has thrashed that thing for 200,000 miles with no problems. when the weather would get bad, or we would be going down a dirt road he would hit that diff. lock up, and drive fast as hell! Nothing has ever broken.

Thanks for this ... do you know if anything has changed for the '09 and '10 4WD Tacomas to get the rear locker to work in H4 or H2?

in pismo Iwas locked all the time the locker helps out so much on the sand it's amazing!! I tried driving around unlocked but its so easy for 1 wheel to loose traction and to bog the truck down and get stuck

no change DAve K,talked a guy through the mod on his 10,just make sure all you work is done properly, that is the biggest reason people have problems in his case the relay was no good. And some have gone 70+ with it lock so dont worry about speed.Just dont use it like a knucklehead and it will always work,I cruise with mine on no problems.

Thanks Chester... After I asked this, I got to thinking that since mine has TRAC (limited slip action) all the time, there may be no big advantage to locking the rear in H4 or H2... Just thinking outloud.

The key word is dragstrip (straight)... Cool that you got it moving that fast!

I keep mine locked when doing high speed off road stuff (for better traction). It performs great! Been doing this for a few years now and no problems. I change my rear diff fluid a couple times a year too and have never found shavings or debris in the fluid. :)

If the light won't go solid, take your foot off the brake and turn the steering wheel right or left.
What you are doing by that is aligning the rear axles and you should hear and feel it lock up.

The sticker on the panel by my door handle says "operate diff lock at speeds below 5mph"
I don't think I'll be baja-ing with mine on lol.

I know this thread has been around awhile but I was glad to find it. I was a little concerned about driving to work at 5 mph on the nasty days. Nashville only has maybe a dozen bad days year in the worst years. One or two in a good year.

You can go as fast as you want, just don't turn unless your driving on slippery ground so the inside back wheel can slip.
