My spark plugs with 95k miles on them.

Got around to changing my plugs today. Guess I shouldnt have waited so long from the looks of it, but I cant tell any difference in running performance between the old and newly installed ones. NGK's looked a little worse than the denso's and the Cylinder closest to the cab was the worst as far as dark build-up on each side of the 6.

I change my mind. My truck is running stronger and is starting faster. I am finding myself holding the key on the starter too long out of habit. A good 2 1/2 Mississippi was required to start my truck. Now only 1 1/2 with new plugs.

 

Yeah guys, they should be changed about every 25,000-30,000 miles.

Did you measure those gaps? What did you replace them with?

 

what kind of spark plugs you guys using??

 

Whaddya think? A dime, maybe even a nickel, could fit in those? Gap measurements and pocket change shouldn't go together in the same sentence...

 

Factory spec is .039 - .043 in. I'm just curious to know how ridiculously far off these were.

Those used plugs have a 0.060 gap! and i bought the densos from the dealer and they came pre-gapped to 0.041. Not sure if autozones are pre-gapped.

 

I checked mine about 5,000 miles ago on my 4 cyl, and the gaps were still good. they still looked ok too. I have no clue when they were last changed since i have only owned the truck for 16,000 miles.

 

Any possibility you can do Close up of those two sparkplags with sharper image?

 

bruce if you retake your photos, turn on the "macro" feature in your camera. It's usually the flower icon. It's for closeups.

 

That was the first thing I noticed also, haha.

I have changed mine twice now, both after 30k each time. The gap had grown to .048 and I could definitely tell a difference at startup and idle smoothness.

 

So is consensus that they need to be changed at 30K on v6 ? Seems low but I guess better change them more often.
