Have a knob on the temp control console that cracked. Can't find replacement knob. Dealer says must buy entire console at $599. No seperate parts breakdown with individual knobs. 2008 Tacoma PreRunner Double Cab...

Anybody know how to break this code...

That's what I have as #1 and #2. Just thought it illogical that since the knob detaches from the console it should have a part number. Lifetime logisticial and this ain't normal...

Check ebay. I have seen whole control assemblies for under $100 before.

Have you looked at the back of the knob and see if there is any part# or manufacture info on it? Maybe bypass Toyota and go right to whoever makes that knob...I would think there has to be a part # on it somewhere even though the parts manual doesn't separate it out?

Could always by the 4x4 switch for much less $$$ and use that knob-y....

Anyone find a place to buy this knob??? I need one as well, and find it quite ridiculous you have to buy the whole a/c unit. If Toyota wants to play that game, ill switch my cracked one out for a new one on their lot...

Just trowing ideas here. Find some one who has a Tacoma still under warranty, swap knobs with that person, have that person go to dealership to replace the whole thing under warranty and stick it to Toyota!:D

Well I've called all the junkyards in my area and all the parts websites online with no luck...

So I called Toyota Corporate and gone up the chain there, they are completely unwilling to help. I've contacted all of my local Toyota dealerships and they wont do anything other than order me a $700 assembly to get a $2 part. I have a conference call with the parts manager and parts director tomorrow to see if they'll do anything at all, crossing my fingers. I swear, if they'll order me the part I'll get plenty to go around

Best idea so far... if anything, they're forcing me too ;)

Even on Ebay for the assemblies I find it ridiculous to pay over $10 to get a damn knob...
