Had a '02 Tacoma, hated the seats. Made sure I got the upgraded TRD seats this time for my '12. For averaged sized people, the SR5 seats are probably comfortable. But they were very unsupporting for my 6'4" frame.

    nothing cool
i've never been on SR5 seats but my TRD seats are really comfortable. long road trips are no problem. my friend has an 05 DCSB TRD Sport tacoma and I think my seats are better than his. Maybe they did a redesign on the seats when they started using side airbags maybe??

How much longer are the seat bottoms, with the thigh extender? I went from a SR5 to a TRD Sport in February, and started having lower right leg pain while driving shortly after. It doesn't bother me in other vehicles or other times - just while driving my Taco......

I wonder if it's coincidence, or the seats.

Actually I think it's changing the angle of my foot versus my lower leg, and stressing my shin somehow. I may try raising the bottom of the seat in the rear, and see if it has any effect.

Had the SR5 for the first 5 years that I owned my truck and never had an issue wih them. Found TRD seats at a scrap yard three weeks ago and bought them. Took the covers off, washed them real good and reinstalled. I must say that the TRD seats are much nicer. Lumbar support is great and the side cushion is way better. Feels like my tacoma is hugging me every time I hop in.

Sr5 seats hurt after a while. Trd is more comfy to me. But I like the idea of having aftermarket seats..... I can get them to work with the airbag light too....

Where can I find a nice seat of decent prize seats? Those corbeau seats are fresh.

I love the TRD seats they are really comfortable and they only really need an option to raise or lower then they would be perfect

I did a long test drive in an SR5 then in a TRD.

IMHO the SR5s were more comfortable for me because they were simply softer. When I was younger I would have gone for the TRD seats. But times have changed!

They appear to be the same basic seats but the TRD foam (and fabric covering it) has slightly more pronounced side bolstering. That matters to me on an AutoX course (in my sports car). It doesn't matter to me in a truck. I just want easy entry/exit. Pronounced side bolstering is more prone to wear. It is also notably firmer foam in the TRD seats - which is probably my one true complaint about the seats.

The TRD seat deletes the fold flat feature the SR5 seat has. Probably the bolstering got in the way.

The TRD is a more contemporary fabric and I do prefer that look. But the SR5 fabric is fine for me - the cloth is well proven and will last and last... Anybody can spray 3M on SR5 seats to achieve similar stain resistance.

FWIW my '88 SR5 seats lasted 25 years - just sold it and those seats were like NEW! THose seats had MORE adjustments than current SR5/TRD seats. I'm not convinced an aftermarket seat is going to last 25 years.

For whoever mentioned mounting a Tacoma seat to a 4Runner power seat rail - IMHO I would go with manual seats any day of the week. In the long run power seats are a potential failure point where a highly adjustable manual seat simply works.

I'm in the market for a new DCab and initially defaulted towards a TRD pack. But after spending seat time, the firmness of the seats turned me off. I might have been a candidate for swapping someone but closer analysis of the option differences vs the extra $1200-$1300 just didn't add up for me. See the table I put together below. SR5 is quite loaded. About the only thing I really liked on either TRD was the power outlet and that's only 400W. Sorry - no opportunity for trading seats afteral.

Don't know about the SR5 seats but the seats in my '13 TRD OR are much more comfortable than the ones that were in my '11 TRD OR.

I have ridden in both for long drives and of course am somewhat biased as I have a TRD, but when buying my truck that is one thing that came into play was the seats. I was really not very comfortable in the SR5 seats and had to shift around a lot. it had odd pressure points for my body type (6' 180lbs) the TRD seats were far more comfortable for me.

Happy with my SR5 seats, they feel less enclosed than the TRD ones.

    Hello folks,

Last month I drove 2,551 miles in 5 days in my SR5. The last day was 17 hours straight. I had no issues. The Lumbar knob works well also. I wish they had height adjustment though. The TRD's don't have that either.

The back seats aren't confortable for long trips in SR5 or TRD trim. The back seats are the same in both, right?
