I also agree. He shouldn't have those issues but he does. Lemons happen. Or, maybe there's a larger problem though the statistics don't bear that out.

I work with a guy who has an 06 Taco, and his chrome bumper has surface rust all on it. But the truck is also always dirty like it hasnt been washed since he drove it off the lot. So that could play a part in it.

Nope. There are many of us who wouldn't own a Tacoma if they were still the same as the 1st gen.

Whatever your weak a$$ rebuttal was, he sure denied your arguments about car washing. rust on 4 mos old truck is ridiculous. Stop trying to spin the facts.

I bought a 97 Tacoma new in 97. The rear bumper had rust on it in the first year. It was replaced under warranty and that truck went 180000 trouble free miles after that. I guess if a company is making 1500 bumpers a day (pulled the number out of my ass), maybe 1 will not be up to snuff. I'm just saying that just because you got a bad bumper doesn't mean the rest of the truck is crap. Hope it works out for you.

My 2006 has a lot of rust on the undercarriage and this happens even with weekly power washing. My bumper has a spot of rust :notsure: Totally agree that a 2010 should not look like that at all.

As far as the 4wd, mine failed at 16k so to the OP best to get it taken care of before you really need it or maybe you already have...it sux when it doesn't work trust me!!!!

And yes heated mirror would be nice but Toyota puts then in everything else but the tacoma in their truck/suv line.....I think even the sienna van has them, I never understood their logic.

sorry about your luck. im in southern ontario. they use a nasty ass calcium chloride solution to de-ice our roads, when i say its nasty, i mean its NASTY! this stuff corrodes and rusts anything it comes into contact with. i hot water pressure wash and hand scrub my truck every 2 weeks. there is a small bit of surface rust that shows up on my rear bumper as well. with a little finishing wax, it comes right off. i don't know what sort of solution gets used to de-ice your roads, but surface rust on anything is to be expected in the winter time. it don't matter how new or 'rust proof' the metal is!

Ok, the rust, I agree it shouldn't be there. But that doens't mean all Yoters are crap. Quit cryin about the mirrors and stereo. That's retarded. If Toyota is replacing the bumper, it's ok. My '05 doesn't have any rust anywhere on it. When I first got it (in '07), the 4wd had barely ever been used. It was hard to engage. After I took it huntin and had to use the 4wd more often, it started gettin easier to engage. If it's not engagin 4hi, slowly move forward or backward a little and it'll engage. If you have a stick, to engage 4lo make sure you are in 1st with the clutch pushed in. If it's an automatic, i'm pretty sure you have to be in neutral...but I don't remember for sure cuz mine's a stick.

I'm sick of all the complaints on here lately. It all started happenin after the recall. Which has NOTHING to do with the Taco. But apparently since other Toyotas have had problems that means the Taco has to have problems too. It's only logical. At least Toyota stands behind their product if something goes wrong. I've had some experiences with Ford where that didn't happen.

Speaking of Fords, should a 6 year old F350 be leaking diesel, need new injectors, injector control module, and a new coolant reservoir, among other things? I don't think so, but the one we have at work needs all that. We just put $2500 worth of work into it 3 months ago, and now it needs another $3500 to fix what's wrong with it. See, every brand has problems, but no one complained this much until the recall. I hate people.

As opposed the buy backs of the first gens?

I hear what you're saying though. There appears to be a serious strain of "recall fever" going around these forums. If people have legitimate concerns as the OP here seems to, I'm fine with that, but I've been seeing a shit ton of bitching and whining on these forums lately so I don't know. It's hard to decipher sometimes who is just a whiner and who has a legit issue. All I know is, my truck is great.

You are the Prime reason Ford was able to make so many garbage vehicles, you refused too say enough is enough and not only kept coming back but kept coming back again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again <---lost count, was that anywhere near a dozen?

I don't give a shit what anybody has to say here , especially owners in the sunny , salt free southern US states , you shouldn't have that much rust on a brand new anything on your truck .
