Hello TW! I'm kinda in a dilemma. I hope y'all can help me make a decision? I currently have a 06 ac trd or w/16,000 miles on the odo. It's got a mild spacer lift and some wheels and tires(mall crawler! See pics in gallery!) I am looking to go another route as far as lift/wheels tires go. I have a full ome lift brand new in the box that I've been waiting to put on, but I'm not sure if I should put it on my current truck or should I trade it in on a new 2010 and put it on that? The lift would be followed by some nice 16 or 17" wheels with some 33" mud tires. I like my current truck but there are some things on the new ones that makes me want one! My dealer tells me that starting tomorrow Toyota is gonna have some really good incentives on the new tacoma's! Should I take advantage of this in order to get into a new truck? Let me know what you guys think! I'm really struggling with this one! Thanks

See what the trade in was (they are giving top dollar for trades because of the economy) and what the incentive is. If the numbers make sense and you want to do this, then why not. It's your money and you should be happy with your truck, right?

Good luck man, hope it works for you.

So, from what I gather you have a 4x4 TRD off-road? You've been paying on it for what, 4 years now? Shouldn't you loan be close to the end? If you have only 16k on the odo (how the hell do you do that btw), you have essentially a new truck, without the '09 and '10 issues (faulty radios, crappy headrests, horrible access cab rear, and depending on your thoughts on the LED tail lights... amongst other things)... I don't even see why you'd consider trading. Unless you really really want VSC and a doublecab...

I'll trade you my 08 pre runner for your 06 straight up :D

wow, you only have 16k on the odometer, that's not even really "broken" in yet. i say keep it and mod the heck out of it. what do you like in the newer model that's not in your 06?

Dude, it's your call, no one can tell you what to buy or not buy. What I would do, because of these uncertain economic times, even if my job pays well and is solid, is to drive it until it is EXHAUSTED and worn, then trade it in. 16K is nothing mileage wise. But the ultimate decission is yours.

Only you can call it. Financially the best thing you can do is keep your current badass ride. If you need a doublecab that's one thing, but you'll be paying out the ass for it, literally probably almost 2x what you'd pay to keep your current one.

Dude if it's paid off... keep it and put that payment cash to mods or chunk it in a bank. I'd kill to not have a $530 payment right now.... especially with a 'brand new' truck that's BSP, 4x4, and the best era in the 2nd imo.

My warrenty ended a week ago... on an 08. Nothing to really be nervous about... how many drivetrain issues have you seen on these. There is a few select cases, but of all the tacomas on the road... they will always be a couple of them.

Also the drivetrain has 7 year, 60k mi? Not sure how it's almost up for you... just the 3/36k bumper to bumper. So unless your interior trim is acting up..........

I don't really need a double cab! But if I was to get a new truck I would probably get the bigger cab. Plus I don't like the new rear seats in the access cabs.

Then tbh, I'm not sure why you wanna drop more cash for the same truck... just my $0.02

If the warranty really bugs you... buy an extended warranty, hella cheaper than a '10.

My bad it is 5 year... still either way with 16k on it it's brand new.

Also, for the sake of argument... a new transmission and labor to install would still cost less.

lol are'nt you making all kinds of incentive pay over there? hostile fire, family sep, tax free, etc...
minus getting shot at, you should be making some good money.

to the OP, so for about 10k you could get a brand new truck right?

you could get a 2 year loan for around 420 bucks a month. thats not bad.
