Add me to the list. My 05 has been chirping since 25,000, now im at 88,000. I wheel a lot....... Other problems include... Loose shifter, carrier bearing, motor mount failure, compass went out, and a dent on every panel. I fixed everything except for the dents. The only thing that I ever got fixed under warranty was my cracked arm rest and its broken again anyways. Dont get me started on my previous vehicle a '91 4runner with the 3.slow valve chatter piece of shit. Why do i still love yotas?

Are you the same guy over at the FJ forums? There'a a huge issue with this over there, and a few guys made a petition to get toyota to fix the problem. The deal is, the trany has an ALUMINUM pilot shaft that rotates on steel, so it gets worn down very quickly, when it does, it causes that annoying churp. My buddy had his throw-out bearing replaced twice, and the sound comes back very quickly.

You would think the highly educated and paid engineers at Toyota would know better about the characteristics of metal and know that the aluminum was not the correct move here. I wonder how much they figured to save with this design.

Brand new to the forum here, just bought my truck with 67k on it and it came to the island with the squeak....thought nothing of it till i read the topics here about. Did some research and found this link. Perhaps you guys have already bought your sleeves from here. If anyone has I would love to hear your comments and thoughts on the install and quality of this product.

I got an 05 I bought used with 47K on it, it started chirping last year with 57K, brought to the dealer, was not covered under the 60K drive train warranty, due to being clutch components. Was told to just wait until I need to replace the clutch at 1200 bucks. got some cheaper quotes from local mechanics, I guess I should not even waste my money, or have Toyota do the repair and if the problem comes back again at least I can go after them

my 06 has 69k on it and i have had this issue intermittantly as well... not to mention the clutch just feels like crap in my truck it acts different everyday.... some days it has a nice light pedal and others it has a heavy pedal... wondering if the shaft is cracked and causing the bearing to bind as its sliding when i engage the clutch....bought mine with 58k on it and it was certified plus it has the toyota platinum extended warranty on it.... im just going to deal with it until its time for a new clutch if they arent willing to correct the problem. im really not that impressed with my truck and highly doubt i will buy another toyota after this one.... ive had many stupid problems in a short time and i maintain and pamper this truck... i feel my 02 4cyl 5spd was twice as reliable as this creampuff, and that one was worked and abused harder

Only 5k (kilometers) on my 2010 so obviously no chirp, but I'm sure disappointed to read this thread. I'm definitely in the "bought the manual because they last forever" camp.

My clutch pedal has just started creaking though, guess I'll be taking it in for that.

    This sucks.

Got alot I want to do but we'll see, that's what the forum is for...
My 2008 six speed man w/ 28k miles grinds & fights to get into gear while up shifting from 4th to 5th. Toyota looked @ it today and ordered numerous parts about 3 weeks away & will be rebuilding it to an extent. But yall are explaining a different problem, I think...

2005 56k with no problems... other than it pops out of 4th every now and then. Anyway, does anyone know how much the install would be on these sleeves? like the sumo one? Just looking at how much I should save up to fix this when/if it happens! THANKS

It pops out of fourth on occasion? I think I would qualify that as an issue.

It depends on what you do for the T56. You can buy one out of a salvage or you can buy a new one. I would say the range is about $4500 ~$5500.

Allan Phillips Racing makes the kit for making the swap.

I want to ask for more details, but I'm never going to pay for that, so I guess there's no point.

In my case, with S/C the gear splits are perfect. 85mph at about 2100 rpm.

1-2 gear, 2-3 gear acceleration is outstanding. There in no rpm drop off at the shift to 2 gear.
