I had a 86 2WD Toyota Pickup that was very quick off the line. I loved that little thing. I raced several cars and trucks on the streets and won 9 times out of 10 up to ~60mph. Probably a proponent of the 4 gears it had. 30 in first, 60 in second. Third gear is where it lost its acceleration. I am working off memory for the speeds so I might be a little off. I would bet on that thing against a 4.0 Frontier if I still had it.
As for my truck, I beat a Turbo Charged Honda Civic with NOS up a slight hill with my 6" lift and 33" tires so I am happy to say it is still fast. Not sure how it compares to the Frontier.

From what I have learned, only Toyota and Dodge have been able to meet the 2013 tow ratings. Nissan, Chevy, Honda, and Ford, are expected to take hits anywhere from 400# to 4500#.

I know everyone else has already spoken their pieces but... I just sold my 2005 cc frontier (I was liinxcore on clubfrontier.org) for my current 2006 Taco. I do not have the V6 in my current Taco like I did in the frontier, but I have to say... I LOVED my frontier. It feels like a full sized truck where my tacoma kind of feels more like a car. You notice the tacoma doesnt feel as big as the frontier, I heard this is because the tacoma sits higher on the frame? I dont know... I love my tacoma and once I finish school this year I plan on buying a new Tacoma and get all the bells and whistles I missed out on.

Its disheartening that there is negative thoughts on the frontier as it is an excellent vehicle. I had 0 problems with my frontier at the same 85k my tacoma has. Both ran like dreams

The frontier's interior did lack the charisma of the tacoma.. hard plastic that once scratched was always there to haunt you. I want to note that I got 19 mpg on my frontier's v6 personally and it was the 6spd. My Tacoma now is a 4cyl 5spd prerunner and I am getting 21mpg in comparison. I do miss the power that the frontier had, but obviously there is the disadvantage as the engine's are not the same size.

Sorry, thought I would just chime in. Both vehicles are great and our leaps and bounds greater than the dakota, ranger, and canyon/colorado.

I was going to say.. If I was using 0-60 times to rate trucks... lowest number's the loser. Its a truck. That power should be put into turning gear not tire. More speed means less power to do stuff with.

Doesn't Toyota already use the new tow ratings? I thought I'd read it at least...

    I got this:

"If all requirements specified in J2807 are met, the tow vehicle manufacturer may state the following: This model meets or exceeds the tow-vehicle trailering requirements of SAE International per SAE J2807. All manufacturers are strongly encouraged to use this test for tow ratings beginning with the 2013 model year. Some brands that have tired of the leap-frog game -- Toyota for one -- have already commenced use of this worthwhile trailer towing advancement."

Which one wheels better? Which one do you see on the trails more? Case closed.

Well I took my stock tacoma out yesterday just to test out "off roading".. worst trail rig EVER... well that I've owned. Suspension is straight road ready. no flex what so ever. Shocks very harsh, tires too small, bed too light, typical pickup truck problems.
Though the 4x4 did get through some very gooey mud with stock "sport" tires on the truck. I assume the frontier is just as bad, It has sway bars, IFS and is a pickup truck.
SUits me just fine, if I wanted to go off road, I would have bought something designed for it. But, yea, not going to be swinging me over to its off road prowess.

You cannot be serious . Do you even have trails out there? All I see on the REAL trails crawling rocks out here are jeeps, zukes, tacos, 4 runners, and old school broncos.

So, using your system, a Ford F350 Crew Cab Dually 4x4 with a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder engine would be the king of all trucks?

Your system makes no sense. There is no reason why a truck with decent pulling power can't also have decent acceleration. That's one reason why transmissions have been gaining gears over the years.

No, you're extrapolating to an illogical conclusion for argument's sake.

But then, I forget my place.

I merely meant it sucks off road relative to my experiences, not that it can't get there, of course it can. But its a small pickup truck, period.
and in all my video watching, i've never seen a stock anything crawl anything. Well, not a consumer level vehicle anyway.

I retract my comments as I am obviously coming from a different experience base and background for this forum.
