I am looking for a right rear fender flare for my 2006 Double Cab regular bed length.
It is my understanding that there is a different flare for the long bed and regular bed length (someone correct me if I am wrong).
I have found a flare from a 2006 access cab Tacoma.

Is the fender flare for an access cab the same as a fender flare from a regular bed length Tacoma?

Look up the part numbers to be sure, but my understanding is they are different. Bushwacker flares for the AC vs. DCs are different too.

No, access cabs have a long bed. Sounds like you have the double cab short bed. The flares for the long beds won't work for the short beds.

I thought that the access cabs had the same bed length (and thus the same fender flares) as a Double Cab Long bed but had never really paid much attention to the Access Cabs.

all access cabs have a long bed. on double cabs you can get either a short or long bed.

and yes they are different depending on the bed length.

if you have a double cab long bed then an access cab flair will fit your needs. but make sure you know if you have a long or short bed before you decide which one to get

I’m in the same boat just on the opposite side, how much of a difference are they if I went to install the short bed flares on the long bed?

A few additions to make me feel cool.
All 2nd gen rear flares are specific for short and long beds but 05 - 15 will fit the rear as long as the bed length is the same. The front flare for 05 - 11 are different than the 12 - 15 when the trucks got a facelift.

If you are talking about prerunner style fiberglass fenders I would check with the manufacturer.

Your avatar shows a 3rd gen so if you in fact have a 3rd gen that's a whole new ballgame.
