Best 3" Lift?

Looking for clearance...have a '06 Tacoma, 4x4, double cab, long bed.

Not looking to go up too much...3" max and will not change tires until stock size wears out.

Any ideas for a good, simple, not lose the ride, decent priced 3" lift?

Looked at the revtek add a leaf....opinions? Will this lift prevent the sag I commonly see on lifted trucks or is there something else I should do to prevent that?

I got a quote here at 977.00 with installation and alignment. Maybe aound that ballpark...give or take a few hundred. Not looking to style out the truck. More for practical purposes.

 

I got the same question I have a 2010 Double Cab TRD Off Road 4x4 and want to get a 3" lift. I am not made of money but its not an issue. My truck is my baby and I want the best.

How do you use your truck? I just bought the bilstein 5100s for the front and back. I get it installed on Thursday and I'm pretty excited! That setup will give you a 2.5 inch lift in the front and I went with a block for the back. Install, warranty on parts and labor, and alignment ran me about $1k.

 

LOL! Yeah, maybe where you're at....here in the islands they steal the pants off of you. What's the benefit to the coilovers and AAL. Or is this another can of worms not to be opened b/c of complexity?

 

Moderate off-roading for hunting and fishing. lava fields, dusty/rocky roads and some mud. Long wheel base with the extended cab enough clearance with the 2.5"?

I was quoted a little more for the Bilsteins. Are they as good or better than the 3" revtek...what about sagging? I heard ride is better.

 

well basically coilovers are a complete swap out of shocks and coils for the front, but are paired together perfectly so the ride is much better than say pre loaded springs (spacers), or ever 5100s (also compressed springs but still pretty good ride). the AAL is pretty cheap, gives lift, increase load capacity, ect. and since the coilover is already put together the install is really easy so that will save you a lot of money if you do it yourself. Its a direct bolt on replacement.

From what I read/heard, the bilsteins are gonna be the best for the $$$. I haven't had them installed yet so I haven't put them to the test myself. I actually read a ton of forums about them and even created my own thread on the subject. You drive your truck like I drive mine so I believe it will be a good set-up for you also. The coilovers are gonna give you a better ride but they are pretty expensive. I was looking at some sway away 2.0 and they wanted $1300 installed with a warranty and aligned (that will only give you a lift up front). From what I read, the coils may have to be rebuilt every now and then, and the bili's come with a lifetime warranty and dont have to be rebuilt. Also doesnt the AAL make the back end of your truck pretty stiff?

I heard good things about the OME also.. Is that what you are running Jigzor? I believe its a little more expensive for the full kit tho.

 

I've had the 5100s set at 2.5" with the aal. Everything with install and aligment came to a hair under 600 for me on my 06. The ride was a bit stiff butt I really liked the way it rode. No complaints. I think since I have a bit more coin this time around I may try the OME setup on my 2010

 

I have the sway-a-way 2.0 coilovers, and I got them for $650 out the door and it took less than an hour for install. I was trying to say if he can do the install himself which isnt very hard at all then he could get some better stuff for that price. but yes Iv heard really good things about the billies too

Hey dylandercole. How do you like the sway a ways 2.0? When I was making up my mind I couldn't decide what to go with. The shop made it seem like I couldn't do the C/O install myself by telling me that they would need to spend about 2 hours leveling the truck to make sure it sits right. That was probably a nice load of BS! hahah.. Oh well! I get the bily's installed tomorrow morning! I'm pretty excited...
