I just purchased some new 37 x 13.50 x 20 Nitto Mud Grappler tires for my 2006 4x4 tacoma. How necessary is it to regear my truck with this new setup?

I'm running 33's and I want/need to re-gear. 37's will make for a pretty fast crawl speed, i would definitely consider it. If it's a manual it will also help to prolong the life of your clutch

I would say you should re-gear, i don't think its very good for your engine and transmission to be stressed like that.

I have 8 inches of suspension lift. I have 35s on it now that are worn down so they are being replaced with the new 37s. Didn't have any rubbing issues at all with 8 inches.

Wheels and tires arrive Friday (03/12/10) morning. Will have them mounted and installed with pics when I get back from vacation.

exactly maybe not firewall but them grapplers are meaty on the sides. I had 9" and had to do minor trimming with my 37's

I believe you have 3.73 gears currently, so 4.56 would return you pretty close to stock.

Yeah, I had previous trimming when I had the 6 inch lift with 35s. I think it will be okay. I guess I'm going with 4.88 gears. They should suffice for 37s. Any idea what the cost generally runs out the door?

450 or so with a master install kit and solid spacer. You will probably have someone else install so I have no idea what the running rate for the install is

I meant to offense to that btw, that's just crazy that something like that costs that much. I am saving for a locker and regear and this puts it in perspective, I gotta save a little more than I expected! Thanks for the info on that
