I have had the truck for 2 years and 3.5 months now. I washed that sucker every week the first year by hand and waxed it many times with NXT Techwax. Pulled into a gas station and lo and behold there was two fellows on a scaffold painting the station on that side. I backed out as quick as I could but later that week I discovered I had white overspray on my hood, roof, front, etc. I have not done a cleaner type wax on the truck yet. The truck was sort of dirty from snow/rain/road splash when it got on there so I do not think it made it to the actual paint and should come off with a good cleaner wax, or so me hopes and thinks! What works good nowadays? I'm an old fart so the last time iused a cleaner wax on a vehicle was along time ago. :)

When I got it on my G35 (painting the house across the street) I used a clay bar and finger nails. Did pretty good but I still kept finding stuff I missed long after lol..

Get u a mother's clay bar kit! It's awesome! it'll get all that overspray off and leave your paint feeling smooth as silk! you can get it at your local auto parts store.

Yeah, use the clay bar to get off what you can then hit it with a little cleaner wax.

The clay bar works wonders! I got overspray all over my truck when i was painting my fence last summer. The mothers clay bar took it all off. I also tried the meguiars at the same time. It didnt seem to work as good as the mothers did.

Ya got the answer - clay bar - is the way to go. They sprayed the roof at work and the over spray hit my Taco. Clay bar, smooth as glass. I had visions of having to get it painted but it turned out better then new.

Just used the mothers clay bar for the first time this week and was amazed at the difference at how the paint felt before and after. I used it on my harley that i felt was pretty clean until the clay bar. Cant wait for it to warm up to use it on my truck. For wax i have used meguiars cleaner wax for years but may try mothers next time.

Another vote for Meguiar's Cleaner wax. I use it a couple times a year after a clay bar. I then use NXT which I apply 4 times a year.

I just used the Turtle Wax ice clay kit. First time I ever used a clay bar kit, very very easy to do.

Clay bar it up, and don't forget to at least hit it with some wax after claying, the clay takes off any and all wax. Ideally, you would polish after clay bar then wax. If you want to know a sh*t ton more about all things detailing, check out Pb's thread over at TN:

I just picked up the Adam's polishing kit, it's pretty amazing how much of a difference a few hours of work can make on swirled and scratched paint.

Adam's stuff is top-notch. Mske sure to use enough lube with the claybar. Some tips, break your bar in half. This way, if you drop it on the ground you still have one good piece. Also, make sure to fold your clay often. To get a nice flat surface on the clay, mash it up against the window. Kinda like silly puddy. Work in small sections and you will need to wash after you clay.

While you at it, clay the windows and rims. It works wonders there as well.

Cleaner wax is a good one-step process. To get the most out of your paint, you should polish after the clay session. If the paint is in good shape, you will not need an abrasive polish. The cleaner wax has agents that wll pull the grime out of the pores (so to speak) on the paint. The clay gets surfaces grime, the cleaners get below surface grime. (so to speak)

Adam's makes some hand grips that are great for hand polishing.
