Blacked Out Tail Lights Mod

Ive done this mod on a couple other vehicles now and it really looks great (imo) !!! i was unable to load all the pictures i took so if you have any questions message me. i used this stuff........http://72.10.43.141/nightshades.htm
also this stuff cures darker than it may look after youre done......my pics were taken soon after they were not tacky anymore.....they are darker now. three coats is plenty enough.

looks like you didnt wet sand or clear coat , would've looked shinier but other than that good job!

yeah, before this weekend i should be wet sanding mine down a bit and recoating them.

That seriously needs a clear coat and wet sanding. I've used Niteshades on 3 different vehicles and it always comes out looking just like that unless you cc and sand. Three coats of Niteshades is usually enough.

I did a set of tails for my Corrado and it definetly looks pro if you wetsand and clear coat. It's best to wet sand with a couple of different grits of paper and get it down to the point that you shave off the DOT markings on the lights. That looks good, but if you take your time you can make it look flawless!

What kind of sandpaper do you use and how much sanding is necessary? And where can I purchase the VHT stuff? Also does how does the product holdup over time?

you can get it on ebay and i would use 800grit before you paint then 1000 grit after before you buff

I bought the following please tell me what else I might need.
-one can of vht nightshade
-one can of rustolem clear coat
-1000 grit sand paper
-2000 grit sand paper
-finishing scuff pad for first step
-Goo Off to clean light after scuffing
-3m rubbing compound
-meguire's wax.


Also how many coats of clear should I put on and how long should I wait before coats?

wow those really need to be sprayed with some clear bro. Here is an example of my lights that were done the right way by sanding and clearing. My buddy does these for a living.
