Yeah, proximity key with push button start would be awesome. I love it on my Infiniti.

someone could always just through it in the stock hole for the starter and then move the starter to the left side and press it whilst ever so secretly cranking with your left hand.:notsure:

The Trd one pictured is that way you still need the key the autoloc I posted a little bit ago you do not use the key just rf I'd remote and pushbuton, it takes about the same amount of time and skill to install as a remote start system.

The Dodge guys have been doing this for years ever since a Push Button start first showed up on the first Vipers. I added the push button start to my 2005 Dodge Ram and it was pretty easy and took about 3 hours total time.

If anyone is interested search the Dodge forums for the write ups. The viper push button should work in a Toyota no problem since its just a button with two wires, says START ENGINE, and costs $35 last time I bought one.

The Dodge guys wire the button up several different ways depending on preference, some trucks will still start with the key and some guys disable the key.

The button was fun to play with for a while but the novelty wore off after the first year and I almost never used it after that time (I wired mine so it would still start with the key).

The only difference between wiring a Dodge and a Yota should be figuring out which wires to splice into.

Anyhoo.... I hope that helps someone get started until a proper Yota how-to is posted.

I have no problem putting a key in the ignition. Assuming that these turn the car on through a remote sensor in the "key" what happens if some gets out of your car and takes your "key"?

you carry your key around on you like you do with any key. When you get in your truck it knows the key is in your pocket or near by and will allow the truck to start with the push start. It would be the same as your key now. just no metal key part. just a sensor

    Bone Stock.Why mess with perfection?Except...
My uncle had a 1940s Ford pickup that had a push button start. I have a 1973 John Deere tractor that has a push button start, also. Pretty cool idea. Could be a lot of work to convert a Tacoma to push button start (PBS).
