hey i orderd the ddm tuning hid slim ballest kit and wondering do i keep the plastic over the lamps? if so.. they do not fit into the headlight assembly.. i took them off and they fit perfect.. but then also the factory rubber housing does not fit over them because they stick out too far and the rubber doesnt stretch that far... any advice? return?

    Will this eliminate high beams?

you do not need to cut the rubber. you should be able to twist off a metal piece (it says where to twist on the bulb) then put the bulb through the rubber and twist back on the metal part. it is a tight fit, but it worked for me.

...this is assuming that the ddm bulbs are the same as the ones in hte apexcone kit that ddm sells

Didn't know they made them that way? True HID's have a cut off shield (in the projector) to determine High or low.

What do you mean by true HIDs? A projector has a cut off shield, and not all projectors can support high beam.

that's the lock feature i was reffering to. it should say it somewhere on hte plastic assembly behind the bulb itsself

As in factory optioned HID's. Like on our Acura TL's (i'm an Acura tech...not like I have all these TL's laying around :D )...they have a power and ground going to a solenoid that activates the cut off shield to lower to let more light out; thus making it a high beam.

I was stating that I didn't know the aftermarket supported a HID bulb that actually got brighter itself.

it does not actually get brighter. when you activate the high beams, the bulb actually moves back in the housing. this moves it to a different position in relation the the little metal shield, sort of "refocuses it"
