Exhaust question

I'm considering replacing the OEM exhaust with a fresh cat back. What would be the best option? TRD? Borla? Flowmaster?

i'd skip on the catback and just buy the muffler of your choice and have it installed in place of the stock muffler.....essentially the same thing...but alot cheaper. the high price of "catbacks" make them not worth it to me.

I agree that a simple muffler replacement is probably the most cost effective approach. Any brand suggestions?

 

really.....just depends on what sound you like. i like my dynomax super turbo muffler....good sound,not too loud and a decent power gain. i also like the flowmaster sound as well....but nothing but a sound gain from them.

with the v6, it's hard to go wrong. glasspacks will give you a bad ricer sound, but any chambered muffler from the companies you listed will give a good rumble, i'm a fan of the flowmaster 40 (had mine for 3 ears and love it). actually, will (tacomaman) was the one who helped me with the selection 3 years ago (thanks bud ). if you want something a little quieter, but still want a good tone and some volume on acceleration, i know a few members are very pleased with the flowmaster 50.

 

Thanks for the opinions...probably going to end up saving me a few dollars. I'm leaning towards the Flowmaster 40 (looked at them when I had a Jeep).

 

you won't be dissapointed. make sure to shop around for it though. i got mine for $45 + free shipping (brand new) from an ebay vendor. no need to be paying $100 for a flowmaster

EDIT: looks like inflation's hit in the last 3 years, but ebay still has them for about $65

 

you kinda lose power with the fm. i would go with the dynomax super turbo

more than likely you don't actually lose power, it just shifts the rpm range for the powerband... (i believe xrunit was the one to do the experimenting and find this)
