What I would think it would Lower your emissions, make it a tad louder, and not as bad of a sulfur smell.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
If anything the performance would suffer a bit. Also, not advisable as your location says Cali. You would never pass emissions.

If your exhaust smells like rotten eggs "sulfur" it's from a bad cat an by taking them out you would raise your emissions because your not burning off the excess garbage. You probobly won't notice any difference in performance unless you take both sets out an sim out the o2 sensors then you will have a raw smelling exhaust and more noise my friend has no cats, short tube headers 3" exhaust and a summit chambered muffler and it's loud as hell

Pretty sure it would make it louder...but it would make the emissions worse. The rotten egg smell would either go unchanged or get stronger (because the sulfer smell comes from the gas...not the cat) and the chemicals released thru the tailpipe would be un-catalyzed.

Concur with the emissions testing comment above too...

I meant raise your emissions. I dont know what I was doing when I typed that. And my exhaust only smells when I punch it.

Anyway once you have nothing to calm down the exhaust from the engine, It can get VERY loud. And it takes quite alot of work to make it sound good.

The rear cats or resonators flow very well from what I've read. If you was to add a whole new y-pipe then you might see some gains, but just cutting out and welding a piece of pipe in it's place would probably just make more noise.

Idk only time I've noticed a sulfur smell from a car it was when we where getting my friends rb25 powered 240sx going an it had a bad cat it wreaked of rotten eggs I guess if I stuck my face near my exaust I would notice what you guys are talking about but completly uncatted exhaust you can smell just standig near the vehicle. Since your in Cali I wouldn't bother as your going to fail emissions and it's a $5k fine if you get caught without them per cat my friend go pulled over In his 89 fox body and they checked for
cats and told him if he wanted he could wright him a
$20k fine bacause his car is suppose to have 4 cats

Not worth it, the gain is minimal and the headache isnt worth it. Had my cats deleted and It sounds like a weedwacker. I know there isnt too many options to make our trucks not sound like a typical v6 with any aftermarket exhaust but Im almost sure you will regret it then have to do as I did and spend 60 to get them deleted then spend 200 to replace it with a stock one from the boards that youre going to go nuts over trying to find. just my .02. if its sound youre looking for .. hack that muffler off. Thats what I did, its an acquired sound (sounds just like a muffler deleted ranger) but it costs nothing to mod obviously and cost ya 10 bucks to re weld a muffler back on if you dont like it.

not mine but you get the gist:

Yup- That's called authority. They have it to enforce laws.....Laws that should be followed if you don't want them to legally confiscate your truck.

Yea but just because they take your truck doesn't do any good there are tons of states that don't do emissions testing or care if your truck is a smog machine Cali may have strict laws but what about the others, polution doesn't end at the border
